We were sightseeing for the fall colors. Our first stay 2 weeks prior was in room 352. very nice and enjoyed it. that made ... us call back for another reservation. We were told on the internet, 2 queen size beds. We were in 223 and found 2 queen size headboards with 2 full size beds. Also noisey and a lot smaller than what we had the first time. Did not enjoy it much. Beds were very soft.

Good Review!
Tom L Sep 6, 2009
This was a nice hotel close to the Ferry's that take you to Mackinac Island and Downtown St Ignace. It would have been nice ... to have a beach and if you stay in St Ignace you must pay a $3 toll everytime you cross the bridge. Not much of a breakfast but I guess standard for this price range. Hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, cereal, coffee, juice, & some fresh fruit. Overall I was happy for the price we paid.

Great place for the family
The Hamilton's Aug 17, 2009
Hotel was a little noisy, but very nice. The rooms were very clean, as well as the entire porperty. This would be a great ... place to stay with a family. A lot of kids, which would be fine if we had our kids with us. Not a good place for a couple to relax without kids. Big open area for the kids to burn off some built up energy, also noticed a playground for the kids. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great, close to all three ferries. The view from our room was very nice especially with the sliding glass door and balcony. Great view of the Island from the room. Discounted tickets for the ferries and other attractions on Mackinac Island available thru the hotel.

Spotless Rooms with Gorgeous Views
Travelbug Aug 16, 2009
I chose this hotel based on reviews I had read on a Trip Website and we were not disappointed. The staff was always very ... friendly and accommodating. Our rooms offered beautiful views of Lake Huron from the balconies. The entire property was immaculate. We had only reserved for 2 nights, not certain in our plans, but we were enjoying the Best Western Harbor Pointe so much we wanted to stay for 2 more nights! Unfortunately, the 2 additional nights were Friday and Saturday and they had no vacancies, except we lucked out and they did have a cancellation and moved us into a beautiful 3 bedroom suite for Friday night. Our children especially loved this property due to its large, warm outdoor pool. It has zero entry at one end and also a large hot spa. There are many lounge chairs around the very clean pool area that is enclosed by glass walls to block any wind from the lake. Towels were plentiful. There is also an indoor pool, but we didn't use it. The kids also liked the playground area, with a large open grassy area for running and ball games. There is also a campfire in the evenings. The breakfast provided is nice. Again, everything is kept very tidy and food supplies are quicky replenished when necessary. This is a very nice hotel that I do not hesitate to recommend :)

Best Western Harbour Pt Lakefront
Charlene Jul 26, 2009
The grounds are beautiful and perfect for young families. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and efficient. We were assigned ... a room in what looks like the oldest building, and had we been given a room in one of hte newer buildings, I think we would have been more comfortable. But our room was clean, and we liked sitting outside in front of our room, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.

The hotel has vacation packages for small discounts to the Mackinac island ferry and other attractions on the island, including the Grand Hotel luncheon buffet which is amazing.

Nice place. Would stay there again. Location of our room was in old section. Hotel has 3 beautiful highrise buildings with ... balconies, we were located in older one story building. Our front door looked like someone tried to beat it in. Was a bit unnerving. It turned out to be a very quiet location near the water.

Argon Man Jul 17, 2009
The hotel staff was top-notch. Helpful, knowlegeable and always available. If you don't like children..don't vacation here. I ... for one like kids so it wasn't an issue. The hotel had a bonfire at night with sing alongs and smores and such for everyone but I think the kids enjoyed it most. Frankly, the hotel stay was the highlight of my Mackinac Island trip.

Nice family hotel for a base camp
Bernoulli Jul 16, 2009
In order to spend a few days in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, we wanted to find a nice clean hotel in a very pretty location ... that we could use as a base camp for going to Mackinac Island, the Soo Locks, Castle Rock, etc. This hotel was perfect for that itinerary. The rooms were on the small side but very clean and we stayed in the "Huron" building, which gave us a nice view of the grassy area that leads out to Lake Huron - the family loved the view. We also were on the bottom floor of the building so that we could walk right out the sliding door to go across the grassy area and into the lake. The marshmallow roast was a nice touch at the end of the day, although we only participated once. The pool was nice and the continental breakfast was adequate. St. Ignace is our favorite base camp location and this hotel is great for spending several days in the UP. Don't expect large flat screen LCD TVs and fancy hotel service - it is a fantastic family hotel for exploring the Upper Peninsula.

You have to visit Java Joe's for a good breakfast and a fantastic cup of coffee. We went there twice and really liked it. Don't be in a hurry though, as the owner and his wife do most of the cooking so enjoy the atmosphere and the coffee while you wait for there excellent breakfast fare. For dinner, the Mackinac Grill is a good place to take the kids.

Lovely location right on Lake Heron and only 2 blocks from the Shepler Ferry terminal for travel to Mackinac Island. ... Beautifully kept. 5 separate buildings, some with balconies over looking the lake, with rooms at various price points. Large, clean in and outdoor pools/hot tubs. Fire pit for nightly marshmallow roasts. Peaceful ambiance, but on the main business street and easy to find. WIFI and computer for guests. Can purchase ferry and Mackinac Island event tickets at the front desk. Highly recommend.

Sheplers Ferry was the only one I found with a side trip to see the Mackinac Bridge up close. The 10 am sailing goes under the bridge with a narration of the history. Same price as a direct trip to the island.

Good location for the money
A Jul 12, 2009
It is very close to downtown St. Ignace. They had a free shuttle to the ferries and discounted tickets for many area and ... island attractions. The breakfast is very minimal. The pool is wonderful and our lakefront room opened onto a large lawn with a view of the island. There is a nice play structure for kids and a nightly bonfire. The only thing I would change is the beds were way too soft and bouncy. I didn't sleep at all. Overall a very good hotel for the money.

Beautiful view of the parking lot?!?!
Look, the parking lot?! Jul 8, 2009
There were 2 rooms that faced the parking lot and we got one of them. The room was right next to the door, so we were able ... to hear everyone come in and out. All the other rooms faced the waterfront. Bathroom was HUUUUGE (it was a Handicap room). Location was close to Sheplers (read my tip). We didn't try the free breakfest because the room was packed and we didn't want to wait in line. Went down to the Driftwood (across from Sheplers), which was very good. The internet access was good. Rainy, so we didn't get a chance to check out the outdoor activities.
Traveler type: Couples
The Sheplers ferry, which is just down the street, offered a tour under the bridge during the 10am departure (also available from the Mackinaw City location at the same time). It was excellent. We loitered under the bridge for awhile and the Captain told us some history. I think the whole trip lasted to the island was 25 minutes, so it didn't really take away from any island time.

It was a short walk to the ferry. There are no elevators, therefore I had to carry everything up the stairs. The stairs were ... narrow and hard to navigate with baggage and a child. The staff was unfriendly and not very helpful. I would not reccommend this hotel if you are taking children or lots of baggage.
