Not Bad
The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to be helpful. They are excellent. The property has been updated in the lobby and rooms but the hallways are smelly, dank and beat up. This is not the usual Embassy Suites property. The rooms seem smaller like they were built for something else and then converted to suites. The breakfast was good but it would have been nice to have Starbucks as the free coffee and not have to pay $3 a cup.

The bad, not so good!!
I would suggest getting more personnel with a smile on their face. The reception person was just normal in his welcome not a very positive attitude. The guy preparing the Hot breakfast was like o yeah I had to work today attitude. actually another gentlemen ask him about what other ingridients were avalable for his ommelette and the "want to be chef" just pointed to a display that was on the counter. By the way the cook cloth was very dirty. The rooms are not properly noise proof. I could here the guest next door walking to the restroom during the night. and this is a very delicate concern b/c travelers usually want to get some rest.

Just the facts,man.
Upon initial check-in, we were given a room with a bathroom customized for wheelchair showers-all tile and no tub. Had to ask for another room with a shower we could stand under and a tub for my wife. Chose hotel mostly for hot tub because of leg problems-require daily a.m. therapy. Pump went out Friday after 4:00 and was informed that it would be fixed Monday meaning it would not be available for entire stay. How do you not make a simple repair in a major city either late Friday or Saturday? Desk clerk did offer me a free pass at some type of excercise club down the road to use their tub but I guess you have to understand my circumstance to see my point. Bathroom doorknob (inside) fell off in my wife's hand-appeared to be installed incorrectly because of the way it initially opened. No maid service one day (Sunday 5/16). Left room around noon for function. When we returned around 9:00p.m. the room had not been cleaned (no bed made, no towels, etc.). Breakfast had a wide selection and omelets made to order. Breakfast was quite good. Bed was very comfortable. Two televisions were a nice accommodation, but channels were somewhat limited. Business center was handy. Have a hard time recommending this place because of the lack of that spark to accommodate someone paying for what should be there but isn't. Sometimes saying sorry isn't enough. Sense a lackadasical,"not my fault" attitude. I understand that things break, but a good manager would either have replacement parts on site or be able to acquire them in a city as big as Detroit. If his home hot tub pump went out, he would drive to spas-r-us and fix it, if he required it daily.
