Okay, but very dated.
I booked here based on a few positive reviews online but when I arrived, it felt like I had traveled back in time, and not in a good way. A few of the things I wasn't crazy about: the internet was dodgy at best and the speeds were comparable to 56k. It's free though. The giant tube TV in my room didn't respond to any volume controls so I was stuck with it blaring super loud any time it was on. There was only blackout curtains which wouldn't be a big deal if the rooms didn't sit directly off the parking lot. Anytime I was in there during the day, I felt like my options were to have people see into my room or resort to the awful room lighting with the shades drawn. On a positive note, the staff was nice and the room was clean. I've stayed in far better places for the money, but worth a try if you're not planning on staying in your room much.

Great One Night Stay
This is a very basic hotel that's good for a one night stay. It's clean, the staff is friendly, and you can't beat the price. The location is also great. Very close to downtown Plymouth so it's a short drive from the restaurants and bars. There aren't a lot of TV channels, but it wasn't too big of a deal as we didn't spend much time lounging in the room.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
There are a number of great restaurants in Downtown Plymouth. Ironwood Grill is a great sports bar and grill kind of restaurant. Delicious. For more upscale (but still casual) dining, try Fiamma or Comparis located right next to each other in the heart of downtown on Main St. There is also a fabulous wine bar called Cellar 849, which serves reasonably priced wines and authentic Italian style pizzas. I definitely recommend it.

a place to sleep
The red roof INN Detroit was pretty unhospitable, being 6' 5 it was great to get the handicap room where everything was a foot off the ground. Once I got into the after getting my room key reprogramed twice.

Fits basic needs
The Red Roof Inn Livonia was a good value for the price and fulfilled my needs of just needing a clean place to sleep for a couple of nights. The room was supposed to be non-smoking, but it was clear that the person(s) who stayed in the room before me was smoking in the bathroom. After the first night though, I didn't notice the smell of smoke. Very convenient to the freeways and restaurants.

Pretty good for the price
This hotel was decent considering it's price, since I wasn't there very long I was unable to do a very in-depth survey of the hotel.

Convenient
The Red Roof Inn is conveniently located near the freeway and has a great night life. I prefer the business rooms due to the size of the beds and added features such as microwave and fridge. I wish the rooms all had an iron though. Those need to be checked out at the front desk.
