Great Family Weekend
We checked into the Baronette over the Christmas holiday. Conveniently located, plenty of parking, fantastic front desk staff and a beautiful lobby. The rooms were great, comfortable beds, very nice housekeeping staff. Being near the mall and the freeway is a plus. I will definitely stay here again whenever I'm in town. The professionalism of the front desk staff is really what won me over.

Great Experience
The front desk was very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. When asked about the reason for our stay, I mentioned it was my wife's birthday; when the (surprise) snack tray of cheese, crackers, fruits and nuts arrived later that evening, there was also a birthday card. Very impressive. The room was excellent overall. However, as beautiful as the shower door was, the gap allowed a lot of water to leak through onto the bathroom floor. Also, the step in and out of the shower was rather precarious. Also, there was a problem with one of the hallways on our floor- there were several dryers out and some wall paper was peeled back; it was not clear what was going on there... We received a huge discount on brunch at the Toasted Oak hotel restaurant. Even without the discount, the restaurant was excellent. The service was fantastic, the menu was very interesting, and the food was great. Overall, I would definitely come back to this hotel.

Great Hotel
We had a great time, and would definitely stay again. We only paid $60/night, which was a total bargain.

Great experience everytime
Had the chance to stay at this hotel twice and both times did not disappoint! The rooms are very clean and all the amenities are top quality. Although both my visits are in Ann Arbor, the 20 min drive is worth it to stay at a much nicer hotel at the same cost in Ann Arbor.

Almost perfect hotel
We stayed here for two nights for a wedding. It was way fancier and more stylish than I expected for the price we were paying. The restaurant downstairs was fantastic, and the lobby was comfortable and modern. It was great to be so close to the mall, so when our 4 year old barfed all over his shoes I could just run across the street and buy him a new pair. The room got a B+ (one light wasn't working and the bathroom had hair in the drain) but the bed was fantastic. Housekeeping came knocking at 8:30am which was way too early for us - remember to put out a do not disturb sign if you want to avoid being woken up (as in all hotels.)

The room was clean, quiet, and decorated nicely. The beds are comfy and the bedding smells fresh. We also ate breakfast at the Toasted Oak in the Hotel. It was wonderful. Great food and nice sized portions. We will stay at the Baronette again!!!

Hard to beat in the northwest suburbs
This is a well appointed hotel. The location is one where I must stay frequently for business and personal reasons. I have yet to find anything comparable in price and luxury in the immediate area.

Absolutely horrible experience
The customer service at the hotel was okay, but the room was nothing like it is pictured on the website. The pictures available on Orbitz portray what the rooms will be like when renovations are complete not what they look like now. After we checked in and saw the room we went to speak to the front desk and informed them that our room was not what we expected or what was shown in the pictures on their website or Orbitz and they apologized and said they don't have any rooms like that right now and they don't know when rooms like that will be available. So call first before going! Additionally, they have a flyer for discounts at local restuarants (all you are suppose to do is show your room key and the flyer) and when we went to one of the restaurants the lady looked at us like we were crazy and said she didn't know anything about it and would not honor it.And lastly, there was a discrepancy in the amount on the receipt from the hotel and the amount Orbitz billed my account for (of approximately $24.00) When I called Orbitz for an explanation and after no help from the intial customer service representative I requested a supervisor. The supervisor ([...]) indicated that the amount on the receipt is the amount that they paid but amount that I was charged is correct. Because they are a business and have to profit. I understand this but I didn't get anything like what I paid for or thought I was getting and Orbitz and the hotel did not do anything to ractify that! So, they paid less, charged me more and I didn't even get what I was under the impression I was getting when I made the reservation. Orbitz explanation was that the pictures come directly from the hotel, but to me Orbitz should also do something to ensure that what they are selling and posting on their website is valid! This was a case of very very poor customer service on both Orbitz and the hotel and after this experience I certainly will not ever use or recommend Orbitz. Customer satisifaction is something they simply do not care about and there are so many other booking agents charging the same rates that I would much rather try one of those then go through an experience like this again. As far as the hotel, once the renovations are complete it appears that it will be very nice and affordable but with this experience I doubt I will go back there to see it.

Totally Dissatisfied
First of all, we booked a non-smoking room and were given a smoking room, so we had to have our room completely changed. Next, we realized that my credit card had been charged TWICE for the same room. When we went to the front desk to have it fixed, it took about 15 minutes for the manager to return from a break to void out our transaction. He blamed Orbitz for the double-charge, saying the transaction hadn't gone through properly, but promised he would refund us for the issue. The charge disappeared, so we figured we were all set. Unfortunately, a few days after we returned home from our trip, the charge showed up AGAIN on my card, and it took about five phone calls and a threat that I was going to drive out to Novi to have the charge removed before we could get a manager on the phone to speak with us. When she did, she said that the Orbitz transaction was not even on our account, so I was forced to forward the email to her containing my reservation and payment information before she would believe me. FINALLY, about 4 days later, the charge was dropped and has not appeared since. Another issue I had with the hotel was the condition of our "international king" room. The "international level" rooms were highly rated among customers as being very nice, very clean, and very updated. Let me just say, we didn't even have a fridge in our room. The microwave looked like the one my parents had in the early 1980s. The room had a VCR but no DVD player, and a TV that looked like it had been purchased in the very early 1990s. I had nicer appliances in my dorm room as a college freshman. I cannot believe I spent an extra $50 to stay in this "upgraded" room. I had another problem with the staff in general. Everyone I spoke to during my credit card charge issue acted like they had NO IDEA how to handle the computer system. Multiple employees referred to one another as "incompetent" while trying to fix the issue. The manager was in a "meeting" every time I tried to contact her to have the charge removed. How many meetings do people have at a hotel in one day? She magically became available when I threatened to drive over there and wait for her to come out of her meeting. In conclusion, do NOT stay at this hotel if you want to keep your sanity. Definitely not worth what I paid for it, and there are several other hotels within a mile radius if the location is what you're looking for.
