Respite from the Amusement Park

We stayed at the Shoreline Inn after a day at Michigan's Adventure. The hotel is right on the water and offers a lovely view. The rooms are spacious with a sink, fridge and coffee pot. The beds were quite comfortable. The indoor pool is small but clean and our seven-year-old found in adequate. There is also an outdoor pool at the marina. The new bistro in the hotel wasn't quite what we expected. The service was horrifically slow and the food was average at best. We'd likely go to the restaurant next door should we visit again. While supposedly they didn't have a kids menu, I doubt you'd wait 50 minutes for a burger, nachos and mac n cheese.

unique clean place

My family stopped here on our way to somewhere else, we were pleasently surprised with this unique place. First the staff was very helpful and extremely nice. The hotel itself is beautiful in an old time way. The pool was clean and our kids had fun. The room was very clean, the beds are comfortable. Would absolutely reccomend this place to anyone.

Unique Muskegon Inn

Nice being near the water. Clean. Comfortable. Bit desolate. One restaurant next door. Good food, but crowded. Strange decor- modern & old-fashioned. Was surprised and pleased to have a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Went for an event at the Muskegon Museum of Art. I may look into a hotel closer to the museum next time.

Wonderful Experience

I was very impressed by the Shoreline Inn. I visited in winter and it was still beautiful. My room was a little on the small side but that is the only negative thing i could say about this place. Staff was friendly, the Inn itself is just beautiful and even the location is perfect. I will definitely stay there again.

Wonderful old style hotel

The decor reminds you of the way hotels used to be. Wonderful clean and spacious rooms with a real refrigerator in all three of the rooms we have stayed in the last two months. The only thing that really needs a little improvement. Need a microwave for the buffet and eggs and meat. Just loe this place.

Akin to the dying city

It's a bit hard to rate The Shoreline. The first day was pretty awful. The indoor pool was closed for cleaning, we asked at check-in when it would be open, they said in the evening. At around 7 I called down and asked if it was open, they told me it wouldn't open until later in the evening, but that the outdoor pool was open until 11. We went to the outdoor pool, but it is a public pool and was full to the brim with local kids with no supervision. At 10 we checked again on the main pool, and asked if the hot tubs were at least open. They told us no, but the manager had just gotten in, and they could call us within half an hour to let us know it was open. We went down to see if the outdoor pool was clearing out, which it was, because it was closed. The pool closed at 9, not 11 like the front desk had told us. The next morning there still wasn't any word on it and we were told we'd get a call when it was open. At 10am we went out for an early lunch and saw that it was open. We weren't so much upset that the pool was closed, (although who closes a pool on a summer weekend for routine cleaning?) but at the lack of communication on the part of the staff. Other bad things include paint that was peeling off the walls, spider infestation (some as large as a silver dollar in the halls.) as well as a large number of different bugs. Another weird complaint could also be considered a plus. We were on the eighth floor, and the floor to ceiling windows slide open as if you were going out onto a balcony. They also have a railing on it that makes you feel like you're standing on a very small balcony. The downside is that there isn't a screen, meaning that if you want to have some fresh air at night you can't, or more bugs would get into the room. The bed was very squeaky, but at least it was decently comfortable. Thus ends the bad stuff. The second day was great, the daytime staff was very pleasant, and since it was earlier in the day we were able to enjoy both pools in relative privacy. There are some nice lounging areas outside that do a great job keeping you cool and relaxed. Other reviews had stated that this hotel still had tube TV's, but our room had a 26-32" LCD and about 60 channels. The location was very relaxed, and the marina was pretty, I just wish there was more to do in Muskegon when not in the hotel. The sad thing is that Muskegon as a whole seems to be dying. I moved away from there a few years ago, and since almost all of my favorite restaurants have closed. A few of the decent bars are also gone, and many businesses have just seemed to disappear. Even the newly re-invented downtown area is starting to close down. We went to the beach and were greeted by broken glass and garbage. If you're thinking about a getaway, sadly, Muskegon shouldn't be it.

So happy!!

I read the reviews of the others hotels in the area and was starting to get a little nervous. It seemed all the other hotels had complaints of dirtiness or bed bugs. This one looked nice in the photos and had good reviews. I was not disappointed! My room was so clean and like new. The staff was also very friendly. The only thing that wasn't what I had hoped for was breakfast. I had thought it was hot, but it was mainly danishes, cereal, bagels and such. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again. I love this area of Michigan it's so nice.
