Mackinac Island 2014

Hotel is old, I am sure that some others would be okay and accepting of it but not I. Main complaint was that the air conditioner floor unit ran all night...was very loud and never could achieve a 72 degree temperature setting. With tax it was $340 per night. Would have been much better and lower cost to stay at a b&b on the island.

Stay away from Mission Point - Stay in the city

Rude upper management staff and lost bags. Paying over $350 a night for a room you would expect more. No air conditioning! Hotel is outdated.

Fall Retreat

We loved the room, it had brand new beds, very comfortable with quite & serene nights. We had a great breakfast in the morning, enjoyed the mini golf course that they had on the premises even though it rained 1/2 way through the game. It was like a short second honeymoon with long walks at night scoping out the grounds. The flowers beds added to the beauty along with it's history of "Somewhere in Time". The gazebo & theater there was the same one in the movie. The horse drawn carriages & the moonlit nights added to the romantic atmosphere. Even though we went in late fall the pool was open but cold however the 2 hot tubs were hot. The Market place restaurant was our favorite place to eat at the resort. We can't wait to take our daughters with us this time for our family vacation this year.

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

It's a long walk if you're carting around luggage like we did. So be sure to have it transferred for the boat to the resort, it's well worth the money.

Nice Bargain

I like walking. So I didn't mind being almost a mile from downtown Mackinac Island. I didn't partake in the Hotel activities, because I had other things to do.

Weekend Getaway

The Resort itself was nice, but there was some miscommunication. They told me there were 2 hot tubs, which was true, but they had shut them down for the season. Even though I called down to confirm, no one at the front desk knew anything about it.

They don't live up to there promises

Booked a room with King Bed and got room with 2 double beds? Complained and Hotel clerk said since we booked thru a third party they could not guarantee room? Had dinner at there BEST restaurant and food came out cold. Beer tasted stale and old. Waiter came by table twice. Would not stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Mission Point has a great location. The main lodge is a very interesting place. The resturant had good food, good service and a reasonable prices. The room was complete, well decorated and clean. The grounds are large, beautiful and right on the water. They even provide a free shuttle carraige to town. We will recoomend Mission Point to our friends.

unbeatable view for the price

It was down the block from downtown. Felt like we were on our own island. Beautiful grounds. Nice dinning rooms in hotel with a view of the lake. Loved the cozy areas with fireplaces to sit and read or play cards or just talk. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Anything you would want was right in the hotel. I would recommend taking a bike ride around the island. It's 8 miles and well worth it.

Good price, but resort going downhill

It has been 10 years since I've vacationed at Mission Point Resort, and my prior experience was very positive. Seems like the resort is suffering from poor economy in Michigan. While the hotel rooms were nice, the common areas were not well maintained. Everything inside seemed dusty, and the grounds not well manicured as in past visits. In the restaurant there was a dead bat on a book shelf, and the food was mediocre. Check-in took forever, and the front desk staff appeared disorganized, sloppily attired, and unprofessional.
