Great Stay

We enjoyed our stay at the Harbourview Inn. Wish our room had air conditioning, but that's the only negative.

Exceeded Expectations

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the ferry docks, but not right in the busy part of downtown, which is a major plus for me. Upon arrival, we were informed that we had had a free upgrade, and the room that they gave us was enormous. There wasn't a lake view, but we did have a nice tranquil garden scene outside our patio. Another big plus for me was that the room was very dark with the blinds closed, allowing me to sleep in when I wanted. The staff were friendly and helpful. They had bike rentals, and the rental process was easy. Rental prices matched all the other ones I saw on the island. Finally, the complimentary continental breakfast far exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and variety.

Very nice hotel and nicely located

We were very comfortable at the Harbour View and felt very welcome. The staff was super friendly and super helpful. The only downside was that internet access was spotty. If you do not need access to email, then this place is idyllic. The breakfasts were great too.

4th of July 2013

We stayed at Habour View 5 years ago and we're very happy with our visit. So thought we would try for a better rate, booked hotel in March 2013 for better rates. $350.00 for two nights, 2 adults, Kingsize, non-smoking. $209.12 we charged to our card at time of booking. When checking in we were charged $209.12 - which is $68.24 more than we thought. (I didn't notice this in the fine print of our booking receipt). The room was nice, very clean, beautiful, but no view, third floor, no elevator. Limited amount of room to park your bikes. Breakfast served 7:30 - 9:30, cold cereal, muffins, fruit, oatmeal, coffee, juice and milk. limited seating, I will go back again, but will check for exact cost prior to booking.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Hotel is not in "town" but close enough, about 1/2 mile from center of town. If you have problems walking, could be problem. Bring a bike. It will save you time, energy and money.

IT COULDN'T GET ANY BETTER!!

Harbour Inn is about a 5-8 min walk along Lake Heron from the historic shops. The whole area is extremely safe. The Inn was spotless. It has a few porches with picturesque views. We stayed in the main original home & would definitely stay there again. Our large bedroom had a bathroom in the room. An air conditioner unit was in the window but wasn't needed in June due to the cold winds from Lake Heron. Fact is, everyone arriving on the island was purchasing sweatshirts due to the colder temperatures along the Lake. The Inn has free games in the main lobby plus inexpensive cruiser bikes to rent. There is a daily free nutritious breakfast in the main house. If you are a coffee drinker you will be disappointed that they do not have coffee pots in the rooms. Most of the time coffee is found in the hall at the main home although at times it was cold. If mentioned to the personnel, they quickly & pleasantly would make a fresh pot. I highly suggest you go to the island during the blooming of the Lilac Trees (which were brought to the island in the 1800's from France.) It is picturesque!!! Mackinac Island is a great place to visit only if you are able to walk, ride bikes, like to go in & out of shops, golf and/or go horseback riding. They do have carriage rides for transportation but that can be costly if you can not walk far. I would much rather stay at Harbour Inn & enjoy the daily short walk along Lake Heron watching the ferries & sail boats rather than to stay in the historic section which has many bldgs. some without any views. One last thing- definitely eat their outdoor grilled lunch at least once. . We had the barbeque ribs which was extremely meaty & tasty. Thanks to the Harbour Inn for making our stay & 35th Anniversary memorable!!! We rate this hotel a 5 + star.

Value Stay on Mackinac Island

Best value I could find for staying on Mackinac Island. The room and bathroom had a good size to them. The continental breakfast was good. The location was great--right where we wanted to be on the island and a short walk to both Mission Point and Downtown. Nice and quiet like we like it. I expected the added taxes above the Online Price, but I did not expect a few added fees. No air conditioning, but that didn't matter in June. Plenty of blooming Lilacs and the pleasant sounds of horses passing by.

When you walk or bike to Arch Rock along the coast--at Mission Point take the path closest to the water and enjoy the many Blooming Lilacs near the Green Building.
