Worth a little more money to avoid the ghetto
The hotel is located on a busy corner and it is easy to miss because other facilities are in front of it. The neighborhood is certainly a safe one. We checked in a little late, but the staff was wide awake and friendly. The hallways were a little stuffy, but the room was not. Our room was fairly sizeable for a single king, and it was clean. The bathtub had mold on the tiles below the grab bar, suggesting that the staff cleans what they can easily reach and that's about it. The bathroom was loaded with towels, so the proprietor is conscientious about comfort. They should encourage their staff to spend more time cleaning the bathroom. Also, the hotel does not haveWiFi, so be prepared for life in the 90s when you book a room... plug and chug with the LAN line. The hotel is far from MSU but close to Lansing.

Great location, easy to find and access.
We stayed in Lansing for the Michigan State Homecoming. My daughter is in the marching band and we stayed friday and saturday nights so we could see the parade and attend the game (Go Green!). The hotel was very clean, breakfast food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly and courteous and helpful! Nice to see smiling faces at the desk after a long, busy, tiring day. Prior to this we stayed at the Hampton Inn in East Lansing, but couldn't get a room there, so this was second best. A little further drive, but was worth it.

very considerate staff
Clean and quiet. I booked this reservation through Orbitz at the last minute for my daughter and her husband, traveling by car from out-of-town, at $109 per night. Hotel saved the room (late check-in). When the staff saw my son-in-law's military I.D., they offered the room at the military rate, approx. $85 per night (about $25/per night savings!). Very nice staff.
