A place to put your head

I'd read other reviews that said it was a good place to sleep for the night, and that's it. That is 100% right. The room wasn't terrible, but it lacked things like an alarm clock and a coffeemaker. The front desk staff looked very young, and they would probably benefit from some training in being professional. If you're a picky person, I would steer clear of this motel. It was right off the interstate and easy to get to, which is why I gave the location a 3.

All right for a very short stay

The hotel's location is excellent, as it's 1/2 mile from a main interstate and accessible to Michigan State, downtown Lansing, and anything in the Capital City area. However, the room had several problems, so had our stay been more than one night, I would have complained. First, there was a very strong mold smell in the bathroom. My sister and I are both very sensitive to mold, so this was a bad situation for us. Second, the room had obviously been a smoking room before it became "Non-Smoking." The smell of cigarette smoke doesn't come out of carpets and furniture just by changing the sheets and vacuuming. Third, the wi-fi connection was terrible. It took ages to load, and I lost the connection after about five minutes. Overall, paying $75 for the room didn't constitute a good bargain for me.

No frills-literally

Located just off highway.Staff was friendly and accomodating. Hotel showed years of wear and tear without maintenance or updating. Breakfast was toast and coffee with seating for two(one table and two chairs). Drive by this hotel.

Just right location

Stayed here a year ago. Didn't like that the door did not fit tight. I'm horrified of mice and would have had no problem for a big fat one getting in. Otherwise the location was a good choice, we could drive 15 minutes to visit all different kinds of places (farmers markets, capital building, antique stores-especially the Mega Mall full of antique booths). Grumpy's Restaurant on Pennsyvania and E. Mt. Hope Ave. was good food with a descent price. Homemade french fries where my favorite. The Old Country Buffet in Okemos had really good variety of food and was really busy. We would look in the "Greater Lansing Michigan" visitor guide we picked up in the hotel and punch in the address in the GPS and away we'd go. I would also recommend a stop at the ice cream store for homemade ice cream on MSU Campus.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

My brother-in-law traveled for years and he said a good restaurant always has vehicles in the parking lot. This is how we choice to eat at Grumpy's. Saturday morning breakfast was quite packed. No long waits and service and food was excellent. You can't get better than home cooked meals.
