Holland, MI Microtel

This place is unbeatable for the price. It was clean, moderately furnished and overall provided a very enjoyable stay. The staff was friendly and seemed to keep everything in order. Very few frills and not luxurious by any means but for a place to sleep and hang your hat for a few days it was great for the discount rate.

Nice get away!

Everything was clean and nice breakfast. Close to the main attractions of the Tulip Festival and even though the early spring prevented the mass of tulips to still be in bloom, we had a nice time enjoying the area.

OK Hotel

Have stayed at this Hotel a couple of times, not a bad hotel at all. Rooms are on the small side and they still have CRT TV's but the price is not bad and it's a good location.

Excellent Stay

This Microtel was excellant for what we needed. Great location, Nice & Clean room, Free Breakfast. If we would have had our boys with us, then the lack of a swimming pool would've been a big bummer.

Horrible stay at this hotel

I was there was 4 nights for some training I had to do. This hotel was horrible. I had to turn up the TV to drain out the people talking in the next room. It was windy those nights I was there and the flap on the bathroom exhaust fan was so loud I couldn't sleep. Even speaking with the hotel clerk, nothing was done to help ensure my stay would be better. I DO NOT recommend this hotel!!!!!

not what we were looking for

We booked a non-smoking room, and a room that is smoked in frequently is what we got. They insisted on taking a credit card for incidentals, "in case we smoked in the non-smoking room", but they clearly haven't used those resources to fumigate or shampoo the room. The carpet was quite dirty to the touch, and we chose to buy flip flops to wear at all times in the room. Othedsise, the room was clean.

For affordable food and good music, the White House Bistro in nearby Saugatuck was outstanding.

Tidy And a Value

Comfortable and clean. It was quiet when taking a nap in the afternoon. The queen bed dominates the room. Barely any space to do sit-ups beta wall and furniture. I now know what others remark about the walls being thin. It was not a problem this trip, but the TV volume--low, in the room next door-- could be heard.

A Quick Get-a-way

We wanted to see Saugatuck, and this hotel is located 10 miles away. It is much cheaper than places in Saugatuck. We checked out Holland, which had little to offer, other than a nice mall, and supposedly a lighthouse, which we did not get to see after two tries. Then, we went off to Saugatuck, and later Oval Beach, which was beautiful. Since it is an unusual fall, it was 81 degrees on Oct. 7. The water felt warm, and the beach was not populated. It was a nice retreat. We also had lunch at a place called Phil's in Saugatuck. Ernest Hemingway used to hang out there, and the food, especially the Portabella french fries, was fabulous. Back to the hotel. The room was very small, but it was extremely clean and cleverly designed. We had a queen bed, but there was a single bed cushion on the window sill area. We had a free breakfast with waffles, and the staff was extremely helpful. I would stay there again. It is basic, but clean. I like that. I want to spend more money on shopping, not on hotels.

I liked the mall near the hotel that had Tuesday Mornings, Pier1, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and many other stores.
