Fine hotel for the price!

The Radisson is a fine hotel. The hotel is 42+ years old and obviously shows some aging. However, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the beds were Sleep Number beds (which we didn't particularly care for), and the staff was very friendly and helpful! The hotel is located just north of the downtown area, far enough that you would not want to walk to the downtown area unless it was a beautiful day and had really good walking shoes. The restaurant and bar in the hotel were a nice, inexpensive surprise!

If you're planning on going downtown, call the GR Hopper at 616-606-0467. $5/person for a day pass and it will pick you up and transport you anywhere around downtown and back to the hotel!

Bed Bugs

We had three rooms in the Radisson for 2 nights while in town for a family funeral. Myself and my father-in-law who were in different rooms both had at least 15 bites from bed bugs in the rooms. We've contacted Radisson and the Grand Rapids Health Department. The gym is horrible, the sleep number beds don't work, and you'll get EATEN with bed bugs.

My average review

Lobby wervice was friendly, Beds were Sleep # beds so they were very comfortable. Rooms themselves, hallways and elevators are dumpy. Restaurant was a highlight, very friendly wait staff, great view a pleasurable experience. However all of these pluses cant overtake the general dumpiness of the place. I wont go back. In due fairness, they have redone the lobby and ressteraunt, I just hope they do not stop there.

Pretty good hotel

Nice hotel to stay in. We stayed on the riverfront side although we weren't high enough in the building to actually get a good view of the river. The biggest problem was that our shower "screamed" the whole time it was turned on. Very loud and annoying. However, the bed was comfortable (SleepNumber bed), the AC worked well, and the room was very clean. Overall, a good place to stay except for the annoying shower noise.

Not what I expected from a Radisson

The staff was very friendly. The computer had a virus. When I told the manager that the $21 fish meal I had should not have been served, he responded that their cook is not a chef. He is a cook. I went to the Hilton where the cook is a chef and had a wonderful chicken Kiev meal for $17.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Go to the Hilton for dinner. They have three master chefs. Go the the Mountain Top? (Hot off the Grill) for the greatest buffet I have ever had and I lived in Las Vegas for 8 years.

Economical option

In visiting old friends from the area. Close location to downtown activities, easy access on and off freeway ramp next to hotel. Bed linens had odor! No bathroom ventilation/outdated. Noisy hallways in early A.M.
