A little pricey, but well worth it!

We went to this hotel for our anniversary. It was a cold and snowy night so we took the heated sky walk about 3 blocks from ... the hotel to downtown where all the restaurants and bars and other things to do are. From there we stopped at several places that we were interested in while enjoying our short walks in the snow as we went from shop to bars to restaurants. When we got back to our room later that evening and turned down the sheets we found that they were some of the most luxurious cotton sheets we have ever felt. We had eight pillows on our bed to choose from. One of every firmness so you could choose the right one. The bathroom was made of marble with a beautiful glass shower for two, which was separate from the bath tub. We had a refrigerator stocked with snacks and drink which was extra if you took anything from it. We were on the 16th floor with a beautiful view of the city and river. We will definitely go there again for another special occasion. If you just need a quick place to catch a good night sleep and be on the road again in the morning, go to the cheap Super 8. The RW Marriott is for relaxing and enjoying those special times and again you will pay for it. We were very pleased. I'm not being sarcastic.

Make sure you provide your own snacks and drinks for your room. The room snacks and drinks from the refrigerator were $5.95 each which adds up fast. Go down the street to the local resturants and bars for the best food and prices. Again the hotel was expensive but excellent.

Upon checkin we were upgraded to the concierge floor, Rm 2008 on the 20th floor. Beautiful room, very impressed with the ... ensuite as well. We enjoyed a complimentary breakfast in the concierge room on the top floor, I was able to check my emails and print directions to where we were heading next. The gym is modern, clean, great equipment with a view of the river. The restaurant in the Hotel was amazing! I ordered the New York Blue Cheese steak.....One of the best meals I've ever had and I am a huge foodie! Will defiently stay here again!

Stayed here for 4 days for a wedding while we were in town and were so pleased with the accomodations and staff. The hotel is ... beautiful and caters especially to a young, hip, modern crowd. The rooms are very tasteful and have all the amenities including a very large shower which was very relaxing. A starbucks in the lobby was the icing on the cake. Located just one block from the highway in downtown grand rapids. This place rocks!

Classy, great location!
DTT Jun 1, 2009
We were in town for a birthday party and decided to stay at a hotel rather than driving home. JW Marriott offered a great ... room at a great value - location was blocks away from the party at Bar Divani (great place, check it out). Our time in the hotel was limited, but we did sit on the patio overlooking the river which was a nice break after a long drive. Hotel was spotless. Room was great. Bed was very comforable. While our room faced the river, there isn't a balcony or anything to step out on. The front desk was very helpful in getting us directions to our destination, etc. My only complaint was the lack of attention by the wait staff on the patio. We had to get our own drinks and no one every came by to ask us if we wanted anything. The strange part was, there was a waitress waiting on another person a few tables down who ignored us over and over.

WOW! I travel a lot and stay at some very nice hotels and resorts. This JW Marriott tops the list. Very nice room, great ... view, very well appointed, flat panel HD TV, marble bath, plenty of towels, great bed, quiet, and nicely decorated. All for a modest price! Definitely the best place to stay while in Grand Rapids. I've stayed at the Amway Grand and this is much nicer!

Great location in downtown GR (which is also very nice) with very good restaurants nearby: BBQ place named Zs has the best ribs, The Chop House (across from Amway Grand) is pricey, but fantastic food and even better service... worth the price!

The staff whether in the lobby, at the poolside, in the exercise room or on the phone were cordial and energetic. The valet ... service was efficient and timely. The exercise room, pool, sauna and hot tub added the necessary relaxation for the days end.
