all in all a nice hotel; they are just about to become a holiday inn and have done some nice redecorating and refurbishing. i ... can only imagine the price will increase. the room was supposed to have a fridge, but did not. also, the pool and hot tub were closed for retiling; i made special plans to spend some time in the hot tub over the stressful holiday weekend...also, while it is a pet friendly hotel, for some reason all the pet rooms are right off the elevator. this can be a bit annoying if your dog barks at strange noises, and what dog doesn't? the staff was pleasant, but there was nothing they could do to fix my complaints...

Very nice hotel under renovation will soon become a Holiday Inn. I imagine the rates will go up after renovation. The pool ... was closed but otherwise no other inconviences. The location is great, right next to the river and all downtown was in walking distance. The room was nice & clean.

Excellent price for a downtown hotel. Very friendly staff at desk and bar. Rooms are a bit on the small side, but are ... comfortable. The only problem was the A/C. It was very noisy. Repair suggestion was to run on high (this only masked the noise somewhat). Would have liked a better suggestion than that. Otherwise a clean comfortable stay.

This is a must stay place
Pam May 28, 2009
The hotel should have a separate room where smokers can go to light up. It was inconvenient and uncomfortable going outside ... to smoke. One thing that we noticed and didn't like is the fact that the American flag was not taken down after dark or illumated after dark if it was to be left up. My husband is a veteran and both of our sons are in the military...so something like this is very important to our family. I did notice that the flag was at half-staff on Memorial day. On a positive note, I must say that the staff was wonderful. For instance, we had a problem with our room card not working and there were 3 people working on getting the problem resolved very quickly. Over all, we had a great experience with our stay....and the bed was sooooo very comfortable to sleep in.

Vacation Folks. May 25, 2009
The interior of the hotel is nicer than it was before the renovation, but our room (and we paid premium) was a mess. One ... light was out, the bathtub was sticky, there were stains on the bed, and the phone was unplugged (which we didn't know until morning, so I'm not sure if we had any phone calls). We were dressed in business casual but the lady at the desk was still a little rude, I'd had to think how she would treat people who were really dressed down. When we checked out and told the desk person the problems we just got a mumbled sorry. It would have been better if they offered us something back for the unpleasant stay - 10% off our bill to tell us "this isn't normally how we do business" could have gotten our repeat business. We won't be back!

This is the perfect place to stay when visiting the downtown area - beautiful short walk across river takes you into the ... heart of downtown, great dining, we saw a great concert at Van Andel Arena & then safely walked back across to our quiet hotel area afterwards. Also small bike taxi's will take you all over town! It was a great weekend!

This Hotel recently went through a total renovation. The over all appearance of the property is very nice. The lobby is well ... decorated and the rooms have all new wall decorations. I was a little let down with the bathroom in the room. The layout is still a little broken up because the sink is in the room and not in the bathroom. Over all this is a nice hotel. That is TOTALLY SMOKE FREE.
