Worst hotel ever May 2012

The hotel staff consisted of one guy that was at the counter all four days that we stayed. He would take the phone off the hook and sleep in the office. You could hear him snoring and you would have to ring the bell a couple times before he would wake up.Breakfast consisted of bagel,English muffin , cereal and fake juice. There was also ants where the food was and in our room too. The inside was rusty and falling apart. We have stayed in Gaylord the last 12 years and thought we would try a different Hotel. This was definitely a bad choice.

The good (if any) the bad. & gross.

We came to this hotel for our 34 ANNV. for some alone time, nice room hot tub. I'm sorry to say our first impression...was to run. To late to change our mind. We went out got some bleach and spray disinfectant spray, took 30 min. to do the room. Got clean bedding, I do have pictures of the pillows (gross). We bleached the Jacuzzi so it could be used was not clean. Got new pillows and bedding. Got the room stay able. And then to find NO HBO, Really was not what we expected. The breakfast was...I can't even say. Check out time was 11am we were up and gone by 9:30am. We would not suggest this hotel to anyone. Then to get home and find that they hit my bank acct 4 days before we stayed. The whole thing was not right, to have to ask for clean pillows and beddding, to have to clean the room before we could make our selfs comfortabe...Come on thats not right. And I do have pictures of the pillow if you want to see just how gross they were. I do feel like we should be refunded for our stay, the web site, the pictures were so nice, looked very romantic...NOT real. Compare this to previous trip...I have never stayed in a hotel like this before. Only because it was a special trip for us, to get away for 34 years of marriage, and then to have that mess. Dirty unclean areas in the room. That has got to be unecceptable or it will close down that hotel. Thank You and Please respond we would like to see a refund for the room. We left it cleaner then we found it. Lois McClain

Was nice but dark, cold rooms,

We enjoyed it for the short stay and it was affordable, but felt it could have been dressed up more. As well it was cold and we found a spider near one of the beds, but we were safe.

the Good & Bad

Motel room was clean, staff was helpful. The hall ways were not some clean. The construction of the motel was poor. Dry wall around tub in bathroom was crumbling. Floor was not calked by tub, flooring was curling due to being wet from tub. Sound proofing in rooms was poor - could hear other hotel guest talking in hallway.

Not everything is as it seems...

Prior to booking through orbitz I went directly to this hotels web site. To put it nicely, there were many inaccuracies. First off it says the hotel has 40 rooms all on the ground floor. We were given a room on the second floor and there is no elevator. If not for the young man employed there I would not have been able to get our luggage up the stairs (I have back problems and osteoarthritis in my knees that limits my ability to lift and climb stairs). The room was advertised as a "king jacuzzi suite" and the website stated there was a microwave and minifridge in every room. Well, this was no "suite". It was a plain hotel room with a king bed, dresser, desk with chair, and a jacuzzi in the corner. No easy chair or sofa and no separation of the sleeping area as I have had in every other "suite" I have stayed in. The jacuzzi jets did not work at all so what we had was a large soaking tub. There was no microwave or minifridge in the room. When I called the desk to inquire as to why they were not in the room, I was told they needed to be requested prior to arrival. To her credit, the desk clerk was able to get them sent up to the room for me. The indoor pool was too cold for me to stay in for any length of time and the hot tub was too hot to get into. We spent three nights but only went to the pool area once. I did suggest they change the information on their website to more accurately reflect the ameneties, etc. For the most part, I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Our 8 year old enjoyed the Call of the Wild museum and miniature golf.
