Hotel Review
This hotel is in Escanaba, WI, the halfway point between Madison and the Upper Peninsula. There are several hotels in the 1-2 star class and this is in the lower end of price and quality. We booked here because the others were full. The rooms are sparely furnished, the carpets fairly worn and stained. The rooms were otherwise clean. The bed's mattress was ok, but to tough for my wife's sore back. Three flat pillows were provided. On the return trip home, our room was located near the front desk. Staff were quite loud and chatty throughout the night. In the morning they were still at the desk and relating stories - it turns out - about annoying customers and yucking it up at their expense. Breakfast consists of small muffins, bagels, corn flakes or some sugary kid's cereal. Coffee was plentiful. The WIFI worked. I would avoid the Family Inn resto that they offer a 10% coupon. Will try the Swedish resto in town, next time. If given a choice, I would choose the other hotels, but this hotel is typical for prices of 50-60/night.

There were water stains on the ceiling, rust stains in the sink, but worst of all we had NO locks on the door. There was no deadbolt, no chain, no safety lock. When we tried coming in one of the side doors we realized that you didn't need to use your card because it was not locked, nor could you lock it. Not a place I would recommend.

NOT America's Best Value
At last minute, we took teen daughter with us. Originally had reserved a room with a king size bed. VERY small room! Even if it had been just as a couple, it would have been much too small for us. Thankfully, the staff was wonderful and were able to get another room for us with 2 double beds. It was a larger room, but smelled of smoke - as did the whole building - and the shower was awful. Took several minutes for water to get hot and then could not get it to cool off. The safety latch on the door prevented the door from opening easily. The fitness room was a joke - extremely small room with 4 pieces of broken equipment. In the whirlpool/sauna room, it was filthy on the bottom of the whirlpool tub. ONLY thing good about this location was the staff and the continental breakfast. Otherwise - this was HORRIBLE!!

A peaceful place to stay. Quiet . Good b
We were there only to sleep. Had a heating problem but was able to correct it. Nice and warm! Bedding and padding could have been a better quality. Yes, I would stay there again.

Nice stay on a budget
We had the suite room with couch and recliner and was very happy with the room. The breakfast was a little thin but really that was our only problem.
