Inn on Ferry Street Pleasant Surprise
Brian Nov 10, 2009
The Inn on Ferry Street was one of the best travel experiences I have had in the past two decades of business travel. The ... restored homes are like museums with the woodwork and architecture and yet had a the most pleasant home atmosphere. Each of the houses has a great large common meeting area besides the nice rooms. The rooms were amazingly detailed and pleasant with ample working desk space and wireless internet service.Beyond the beauty and comfort, the place was quiet and incredibly peaceful. My friends stayed at the busy Marriot and though it was nice, I had great comfort, peace and quiet each night and morning before business. I showed them pictures and they were jealous. [...] The full breakfast was a great start each morning in a large room without a TV blaring, and somehow the staff and guests maintained the quiet atmosphere. The pace just seemed to slow down while there compared to most of my travels. The complimentary shuttle sealed the package and they had no problems dropping me off and picking me up each day. The drivers were knowledgeable and pleasant. They shared the history of Detroit, and the Hotel and suggested places to go. The Detroit Institute of Arts is one block away and I was able to visit that fascinating place on my last day which seemed so appropriate to the Inn itself.I can't say enough good things about it. I normally would never take the time to write this, but it's the least I could do considering how pleasant the stay was. [...]I would recommend this place to anyone in their Detroit travels and already have about 20 times while I was there.

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA)is one block from the Inn on Ferry Street and worked out even with a short 3 hour visit. I could have spent days there, but it has hundreds of exhibits that fit the century plus old buildings making up the Inn. Tons of original paintings and many sculptures from around the world.

Outstanding and elegant hotel and outstanding staff! In addition to the quality of the rooms, this hotel includes a very ... conventient free parking, free Wi-Fi, free breakfast and a complimentary shuttle service. My wife could not have breakfast in the morning. When we came back at noon, the staff had prepared a bag for her full of goodies. This is quality service!

we were somewhat skeptical (especially my husband) about staying in a bed and breakfast in DETROIT City but it was everything ... the reviews said it was. The staff was wonderfull, the rooms were clean, breakfast was great, and we really loved having shuttle service which they ran past the 11 o'clock cut off due to the high volume of guests who were all attending the Kenny Chesney concert. The Inn on Ferry St. is a great value for your money and we would definitely stay there again.

I was in Detroit for a conference at Wayne State University. Ferry Street is located on a quiet street with beautiful ... gardens. A quick walk to campus. Centrally located from DIA, Detroit Historical Museum, & a huge Public Library. Staff were pleasant even when caring for a large family reunion and conference attendees, all with very diverse needs.

Quaint Surprise in Cultural Area of Detroit
Patricia Sep 20, 2008
The Inn on Ferry Street is a very comfortable, clean, unique B&B that doesn't leave you feeling like you are staying in ... someone's home. Each room is unique and comfortable. The Inn offers a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up within a 5 mile or so radius. The breakfast selection is excellent and fulfilling. I have turned so many friends on to the Inn. I can't wait for another exscuse to stay - it's only 30 miles from my home.

Place to stay in downtown motown
Ann Aug 3, 2008
We stayed here mostly for the shuttle service they provided to a concert that evening at Ford Field. Because most guests ... were therefor the same reason they were very accomodating and had several pre arranged shuttle pick up and drop offs for the concert. I would definitely stay again if I had an event to attend to in downtown detroit. It was convenient and friendly, and very clean. The breakfast in the am was great also

Trena Jun 19, 2008
The Inn on Ferry Street was absolutely amazing!!! The rooms were gorgeous, beautifully kept. We called the Inn our oasis. The ... location was great, close to everything, downtown, casinos, tiger stadium and great cafe's and lounges. It was more of a bed and breakfast with a beautiful serve yourself breakfast every morning. Breakfast included waffles, eggs with all the fixings, all the freash fruit imaginable, cereals, coffees cakes and a huge selections of teas and coffee's. The staff was exceptional. And the shuttle service provided was an added bonus.

Walking distance from downtown nightlife. The bowling alley/pizzeria was alot of fun and was only a 5 minute walk down Woodward ave. Tiger stadium is a must see!

A Victorian Jewel in the city
dale May 7, 2008
This was an absolutely fabulous place. The accomodations were top notch. We would go back and stay again. The staff were ... friendly and helpful directing us to local businesses for lunch and driving us downtown to the Tigers game and returning to pick us. Taking us to the Amtrak station the next morning. You couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay. Our room was nicely furnished with a king size bed and beautiful furnishings throughout.

The Inn is located with the University grounds and we found many small restaurants within short walking distance from the inn. With very reasonable rates. We had lunch at a small place named GearHeads.

The historical buildings were something you would not always have a chance to see while in the city and provided a real ... flavor of the history of Detroit. The shuttle service makes access to all the events downtown convenient and the staff is always right there with their assistance, making sure you have whatever you need.
Traveler type: Friends
The sporting events are never ending with Ford Field, Comerica Park and the Joe Lewis Arena. There are many amazing shows and concerts at the Fox and State Theatres. Add to that the casinos, dining, dancing and about every other type of entertainment and there is always something to do in Detroit.

Exceeded our expectations!
Robin Feb 9, 2008
The Inn on Ferry Street in Detroit was very clean, updated, quiet and comfortable. We had shuttle service to our theater, ... free parking at the hotel, and a beautiful breakfast buffet featuring fresh fruit, berries, Seatle's Best Coffees, cakes, breads, quiche, eggs and waffles served on the first floor of this century old home. This Inn is feels like a historical bed and breakfast with beautiful woodwork, working fireplaces, high ceilings and period design. Our room was large, furniture was very tasteful, lead glass windows with dramatic drapery, comfy king bed, great new bath with old fashioned fixtures and tile, plus all the ameneties of a first class hotel. We are definitely coming here again!

Great Hotel in Detroit City
Mathurin Aug 14, 2007
My wife and I had a very nice time at this hotel. We stayed for one night for a baseball game in Detroit. The shuttle was ... very helpful to get downtown and also back. Although it was hard to spot an entrance (which can be good in the city of Detroit), the area is very nice and secure. The staff was very friendly from the front desk to maintenance. A couple negatives: small shower in our room and we experienced a brief fire alarm wake up in the middle of the night, which turned out to be nothing. We will gladly stay there again over the chain hotels in downtown Detroit or the suburbs.

Wonderful old home
Diane Apr 29, 2007
The Inn is a beautifully restored old home in a college area. We did not explore the area so I can't comment on local ... activities, but the Inn offered a nice breakfast with extended hours. The room was comfortable, large bathroom, and quiet all night. There was a no-charge shuttle that dropped us off at the Detroit Tigers stadium. It was a very restful couple of nights.
