Detroit Holiday
I was in Detroit for Thanksgiving to see the Red Wings and the Lions. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express downtown and wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoyed myself very much and the hotel was a good place to stay. It was close to Joe Louis Arena, Ford Field, Greektown etc.. My room was nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. I will stay there again on my next trip to Detroit.

The People Mover was just across the street from the hotel. It took me everywhere that I wanted to visit while in Detroit for only seventy-five cents per ride. I felt safe riding it even at night.

Great Stay
The Hotel was well centralized with a free shuttle service anywhere within three miles of the hotel. Hotel staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The Continental breakfast was very good with good variety. The valet service for getting around town was easy. Big City Bar attached to building gets a little noisy at night. I definitely would stay there again.

Short drive from hotel
Fishbones was a very good place to eat and I certainly would recommend "Slow Bar-B-Que". Five Guys hambugers and fries were great also. Lots of places to eat in Greektown.

Nice place
We enjoyed it! The only problem we had was the house keepers knocking early in the morning all the time. They did not have any do not disturb signs for the door. Besides that a nice location and a nice bar downstairs.

Dirty, Unsafe and Car Break-ins
Do not valet park!! Upon arriving, they try to make you believe you HAVE to valet park. During our 1 night stay we know of 3 car break-ins. One was a friend of ours. Windows of car get busted out. They say they can get them fixed for $110.00 if you pay cash, not check. Can you believe it!? They want you to pay for the damage. The hotel has been refaced and named to Holiday Inn Express, but it is just an old downtown hotel renamed. Rooms are small, hallways narrow and dark, bathrooms not clean (cleaning rag was left on our bathroom floor along with hair in tub). The air conditioner/heater that hung out the window had dirty filters hanging out of it. We were a group of teachers at a technology conference at Cobo. Lesson we learned: Never to stay at this hotel again!!
