We were in Detroit for a Red Wings game. We walked down the river walk right outside the hotel to the Joe Louis Arena. ... Great/safe area. Beautiful hotel with a GREAT view from our 61st floor, king bed room. Very easy to access from the expressway. We will definitely book again for our next trip to Detroit! The only problem was that the room was very dusty as though it hadn't been dusted in a couple weeks.

I would suggest anyone check out a Red Wings game if you have the chance! They are awesome to watch!

We stayed here for out weekend trip to Cedar Point and to visit with family. Our first night was noisy due to a team outside ... ground drilling until 2 AM but fortuantely we were exhausted from our travels and slept decently. The second night, I requested a few pillows other than the rediculously flat feather pillows be brought to our room and they never showed up. I tossed and turned until 2 AM hoping they'd bring my pillows and listening to the loud partiers and their music next door. When I finally couldn't take it any more I knocked on their door and kindly asked them to quiet down as we had to get up very early. They said fine but than mocked me and used profanity once they shut the paper-thin door. I was shocked this was the sort of trash the hotel allowed in. Finally, my husband and I decided to move rooms and re-request the cotton pillows and around 3:00, we finally got to sleep comfortably and quietly. The 3rd night, after a long day a CP, we were lucky enough to have a screaming baby on the otherside of the paper-thin wall and again didnt sleep well. In addition, our "river view" was half covered by a large portion of the building and parking cost as much as it did to rent the car. Overall, we will NOT stay at this hotel again.

Pleasantly Surprised
SteelerFish Oct 13, 2009
The Marriott was convienently located in the Renaissance Center. The Center contains anything you may need on your trip ... including restaurants, gift shop, theatre and CVS. The Italian restaurant (Andiamo)had very good food and a three man band consisting of a female vocalist, keyboards and saxaphone. They played jazz and Motown music for hours. Great atmosphere. The Insigna Coach House restaurant located on the 72nd floor was decent, but not as good as the prices would suggest. However there is a spectacular view from everywhere I walked or sat. The Volt Bar in the lobby was very relaxing and the employees very friendly. Four flat screen televisions keep you updated on the current popular sport and there are three computers and no charge for usage and complementary internet as well. I would definetly stay here again.

My first time in Detroit i will never forget. The hotel was in walking distance to everything so we left our car parked. The ... staff was incredible and very friendly. I am from Pittsburgh and we came for the steelers game. we also went out on the town to party. there are so many places near the hotel theres really no need to drive including restaurants. If i had to pick a negative i would say the room was too small for 200 bucks. The view was incredible thou!

OVERPRICED
Tealkay Oct 1, 2009
the room with a view had a horrible view, the room had no garbage can liners, torn sheets, & dust everywhere. They are priced ... well over a $100 a room and offer no continental breakfast, no free internet, and 4-5 year old movies to watch for $15.99!! I could purchase the movie for that at a store! The hotel claimed they would take care of the problems before we got back to our room, they did nothing. In the morning, they only offered an apology. I will never stay here again. [...]

My 2009 Labor Day Weekend Experience
Mr. Wrinkle Sep 10, 2009
The location and beauty of the hotel helped make our Detroit Jazz holiday weekend special {view of the city from our ... room}. Easy access to the People Mover is a plus also. Just enough affordable eateries on main level to help keep the experience from getting too expensive. I've shared my wonderful experience with many people since returning back to work. I look forward to 2010.

The hotel was wonderfully located near Ford Field and other attractions in Detroit. The facilities were clean and readily ... available for use. Along with an outstanding view of the city, the hotel room was immaculate and extremely comfortable. Since the hotel was located at the Renaissance Center, there were many attractions to occupy spare time before a night out in Motown.

Boston Guy Jun 10, 2009
Hotel was clean and in an excellent location, right along the river and with a great view (at least from our room on 51). ... Also only a few blocks from Greek Town and right at one of the People Mover stops, so there is easy access to all the sporting arenas as well. The only real negative was that our room was near the elevator banks and we could hear the ding whenever someone got off on our floor.

Hot Headed May 27, 2009
Parking was not included in the stay it cost us an extra $20, we were to have a 320 sq ft room, it was much smaller. We had to ... call for TPaper, there was no pool avaliable, we asked about food and was told there was nothing left opened. We trucked the kids to the casino late at night to return and our nieghbors had room service. That would have been nice to know!! Our bathtub was dirty like someone stood in it with dirty feet. Oh yeah and the waitress added an extra 10 dollars to her tip after checking my back statement

The music fest was a great experiance, I think the people mover should stay on longer when events are in town

Detroit Marriott
Always Traveling May 10, 2009
The hotel itself is very large and a bit confusing. My room was a nice size, but there were these stains, I mean large ... stains, on the carpet that were rather gross. I was exhausted so I didn't put up a fuss and just tried not to look down. (Lol) I travel often and I thought that for the price of the hotel, the room could have been a bit nicer and much more up to date. The positive part of the experience is that the staff was relatively cordial and that it had a great view.
