You get what you pay for.

We booked this hotel for one night. (Paid $206 Can. includes tax) We were attending a football game the next day. Valet parking at the hotel was $25 and well worth it. It was a one time charge that allowed for us to come and go as we pleased vs a $20 charge to park our own car or a $9 charge across the road which we would have to pay again if we left the hotel. Inside, the hotel was massive. It had multiple levels with a private bar, food court and restaurants. Our hotel room was on the 52nd floor. The windows were floor to ceiling overlooking the river. Amazing view! A flat screen tv, king size bed, spacious washroom etc was most comfortable. We ordered room service - a bottle of merlot ($36) and carrot cake - good size ($8). The carrot cake was the best we every had. On the downside, when we went for dinner, the restaurant we chose was closed and it was still early.(@8:00 p.m. on a Saturday) Good thing we had the carrot cake! We were directed to the hotel's bar and had a really good Mariott Burger - though the service was just ok. We were served rather quickly with our drinks but had to wait @15 minutes for the waitress to come back and take our order and then another @45 minutes for the food to arrive. A burger with a side (fries or salad) was $16. Again worth it. We would definitely stay here again. You pay for what you get. Would have preferred if check-in time was noon instead of 3:00 p.m. A great place to stay - all amenities in the hotel. Most hotel staff were friendly but a few just seemed like they were going through the motions and just wanted to get home. In fairness that could be because there were so many people at the hotel for the game.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

The hotel staff gave us a print out of directions to the nearest mall. It was @25 minutes away. Malls don't open until 11:00 on a Sunday.

Good

The service was great. The only thing is that the restaurant called Volt in the Hotel on the third floor is very slow. They take very long to take orders. I would like to see a restaurant that welcome the guests and help them very promptly.

Weekend in the D

We liked the location on the river, next to Hart Plaza, on the People Mover circuit, and within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions. I wish the hotel had a pool. The gym was very nice. The rooms only had paper cups, not glasses. Bed was nice, room clean, and the valet was pretty quick.

st. pattys day weekend

It wasn't bad at all, but there were four of us in one room and they gave us a king sized bed. I asked several times for two double beds but they just said to call back we waited for our room til about 3 thinking we were waiting for a double bed room. It was an overall good trip, we weren't in our room that much but when they brought the roll away up they changed our heat to 77!! It was about 70 outside that day so we were sweating. Good for sleeping and not much else. Try the marriott across the street, a lot smaller and less stressful.

Great Business Travel Hotel

The hotel has great access to the highways, the tunnel to Windsor, Ontario, Canada and the People Mover, Detroit's mass transit system. Since it's in the heart of Detroit, you can't get a better connected hotel. The staff was friendly and able to help with every question I had. My only qualm is that you have to pay for internet connections. Many other hotels nearby off free internet connections and/or WiFi.

Detroit In the Sky

This is the best location to stay if you want to go to NAIAS at Cobo Hall. You can walk there in minutes. The hotel location has GM vehicles on display as well. Within close walking distance to Greektown Casino, restaurants, bars, nightlife, etc. Perfect if you don't want to rent a car!
