Really

The room was inexpensive. You get what you pay for even free clothes that were in the room before we got there.

You get more than you pay for

I wanted a hotel close to downtown that wouldn't give me bedbugs and was cheap. I got it. The room was clean, the air conditioner worked, there was free wi-fi, and with a little walk, I was able to get a cup of morning coffee from the lobby. This is great to stay at if you want to save money and you don't have kids. The other people staying there may be a bit "colorful" so definitely more of an adult spot. I paid less than 60 a night so it made more funds available for the great food to be found in Detroit.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

If you are a foodie like us, go a block down trumbull to La Petit Zinc. Their coffee was AMAZING and the crepes are solid.

Not recommended

We got our first room and it wasn't even cleaned and it was dirty. The next room they gave it was a smoking room when we asked for non smoking. Then they told us we had to wait 15 minutes to get a clean room. We never stayed at the hotel. Stayed somewhere else.

Basic inn, but good stay in Detroit

"Corktown inn" did it for me in Detroit. The price was very good. The room was clean enough, even though shabby. It was a bit noisy outside (in the hallways) but not too often and not too bad. Yes, I guess some people live there long-term, but not the street beggars types. I felt absolutely safe walking there at day time, but prefered taking a cab returning to the hotel at night (even though I would have probably been all right coming back walking). The stuff was all right. Detroit and Detroiters have actually made a good impression on me. Going through hard times but trying to get back.

Entertainment tip: Long walk from hotel

The downtown, Fox town and Greek town are all within walking distance. "Great lakes coffee roasting" seems to be the best for anthing - eating, having coffee, having beer (lots on draft)

Not bad for what I needed

The hotel was not bad for me. I needed a place to sleep for a few nights. It was close to where I needed to go. I won't recommend this hotel to a family or a single female friend, because the area was a little rough. When I checked in the woman at the front desk looked like she was on drugs. She also told me that I owed the hotel $45.00. Thank god I had my paper work saying I paid for the room. The room was small, I felt like I was in jail. The A/C wasn't work the first night I was there, But it got "fixed". Cleanliness, when I got there wasn't bad, but nobody made the bed while I was there. Overall not the worst I've seen. But not the best (not even close).
