Great staff and fun atmosphere
Great, friendly service from the staff. Great price. Great location, as there are many restaurants and fast food less than a mile away. The Hotel was so neat. It was a really charming building made in possibly the 50's or 60's and must have been pretty well maintained over the years. The owner and lady working the front desk was so sweet and let us know of all the activities happening for the rest of the night. They have a bar with a pool table, there is a room of dates and arcade-y stuff, a really warm pool, sauna, and hot-tub, and at night they had karaoke and the bar open until 2am. The room was comfortable and cozy. The shower was clean and updated. The only thing that we didn't like was the carpet which is very thin and it feels a bit sticky, so we just kept our flip flops on til we got into bed.

Horrid Experience
A nightmare from the beginning. Couldn't even open the door to the room, (needed the clerk) had swollen from the rain. Room had crumbs/food on the carpet, sheets had small black gritty things in areas. Light over my bed did not work, mold on the shower tiles, brown water when I first turned on the shower, someone's leftover towel hanging on bathroom door. Children were scared so we left the room and decided to go to the pool where ANYONE could walk through the outside door. (unsafe) Couldn't see the pool bottom, kids said the water felt heavy and hard to push, was a light green color. Hot tub had algae growing in it. Rusty pipes, peeling paint and overall filth in the pool area. Made the kids get out of pool and shower off with soap I brought. Basketball and tennis court laden with grass/weeds. Unkept buildings and grounds, huge white buckets filled with cigarette butts near doors. We stayed the night because I did not have a res anywhere else. Put chair in front of door, did not sleep well nor did the kids because we felt unsafe. Left to go to a sporting event and called the motel to cancel my second night. They did not make it easy to cancel and I remained calm and polite because I still had to get my things out of the room and I worried that someone would get mad and steal something or worse hurt me. When I actually had my items in the car and I was at the front desk they were having problems with letting me out of my room[...]. They said they would make me pay part of the second night and would send me a fax receipt.I should and would like all of my money back. Why should I or anyone pay for an experience like that? How do I get an EASY and complete refund?

OOPS!
As my friend was riding the DALMAC (5-day bicycle tour 80 miles that particular day), we needed at least a decent shower, perhaps a hot tub. When I arrived to check us in, the owner told me he had no hot water that day, was working on having it fixed and was in process of making arrangements for his guests at the Super 8 just down the road and completely honest about it. We appreciated that and took his offer. Clearly I can only comment on 1 or 2 items and cannot state if we recommend it or not.

You get what you pay for...
The Rodeway Inn has a convenient location in Cadillac. It's close to both lakes, many restaurants, and only a short drive from the downtown shopping district. The price is one of the lowest in the area and they had last-minute availability, which was why we chose it for our weekend stay in Cadillac. We had a non-smoking, King room, which we were pleasantly surprised to find included a full-sized refrigerator! The bathroom was large and handicap-accessible. Our room was at the far end of the one-story hotel, which we later discovered was fortunate, as there was loud, obnoxious Kareoke in the lounge, which would have been easily heard in the nearby rooms. Our room was large and spacious, with two chairs, a television, and a desk with mirror. The room was on-the-surface-clean, although quite outdated, which made it feel a little grungy. Two of the walls were brick, which was interesting and did seem to help with sound from nearby rooms. Our King bed was quite uncomfortable - just a very basic mattress with no mattress pad. Also, the fitted sheet kept rolling off the corners of the bed, which was pretty annoying. The bed also dipped in the middle a bit, so be prepared to sleep closely to one another! The hotel staff was not overly-welcoming or friendly. When we asked about nearby restaurants for dinner, we were told to eat at the hotel buffet. No other suggestions were provided, even when it was obvious that we wanted to go out to eat! We did eat at the small breakfast buffet, which was cheap and fairly tasty. The staff, however, with the exception of one very nice cleaning lady, seemed bored and tired. Not a very happy or upbeat place! The pool and hot tub area were open during the posted hours, but they had a very cloudy look to them. I don't know if it was from chemicals or if they were actually dirty, but we didn't venture to try them out. They didn't look very welcoming! Overall, this was a good place to crash for the night, if you're just looking for a place to sleep. The price and location are good, but the atmosphere and amenities are what they are... you get what you pay for...

Older place but lots of fun
It's an aging place and needs some maintenance. But we had a lot of fun despite the rainy weather. We hung out in the pool, did karaoke in the bar (Friday and Saturday), and enjoyed the quiet and peaceful location.

Quick family getway
The Rodeway Inn was an ok stay that gave you the basic amdenties need for a stay! The hotel was lacking a few things that made you feel like you had a stay that was perfect and was above the rest!! The pool and hot tub was lacking cleaniness in the water and left a fowl odor. A shower in the room was very small if any the shower head would totaly not even spray enough water to rinse out the shampoo. The price was pretty great though when you are looking for something expensive for your family. Our stay was ok and we were comfortable but just a few things being inproved could of took it to a great stay!!
