Ann Arbor convenience

I was mainly looking for a place to sleep near the interstate while on a long road trip. But the motel was only 2 miles away from unique downtown Ann Arbor so I got to visit Starte, Liberty, and Main Streets. If you have a few hours it's definitely worth the visit. There was a huge shopping mall across the street but strangely no food store. I had to buy orange juice at a gas station and it could not sell any alcohol. Breakfast at The Red Roof lacked yogurt, eggs, or real cheese, but for $53 what do you expect? I stayed here twice within a week and would do so again. Staff were very nice and we were allowed to use te computer at the adjacent Comfort Inn.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

If you like a combination of small town, funky student quarter, and high and low end shops, the three main downtown streets are definitely unique and delightful.

Great place for $50

I was a bit weary of booking this hotel, but the good reviews swayed me. It turned out to exceed expectations in every way. The staff was great, the room was modern, and everything went very smoothly. The bed was comfortable, but the only thing preventing me from giving it 5 star was the bedding. The pillows were old and lumpy and the linens felt very cheap.

Better than expected

If you're looking for a no-frills, clean, safe, and comfy place to crash that's cheap, look no further. I was in town to visit the University of Michigan campus. Location was perfect for visiting campus and seeing the town. Bus service to campus has stops near the hotel and it's a short drive to campus in a rental car. Hotel doesn't look great from the outside, but it looked like the rooms had been renovated recently (past year or 2). The room had an LCD TV, microwave, and mini-fridge. Bathroom was somewhat small and the toilet was older. Bed was comfy - not too firm, but not soft and saggy. Heater/AC unit was strong enough to keep the room quite toasty, but it was a little loud (good if you like white noise when going to sleep). The walls between rooms let a decent amount of noise through, so be prepared to ask your neighbor to keep it down if they're louder than average.

Tons of restaurants nearby, but Mark's Mid-town Coney Island stood out in particular. It is located 0.5 miles from the hotel. They have a decent variety of food for a diner-type restaurant, but their prices are VERY good.

Second stay, still a fan

The rooms are compact, but it's clean and super cheap, and wifi is included. My pro-tip would be to have them air the room out for an hour or so before you get there, they go absolutely insane with the cleaning products.

Great value and a short drive to downtown.

This hotel was nicer than I expected considering the price I paid. The only thing I wish was different would be maybe some whole wheat options of the bagel, cereal, and english muffin selections. Very minor thing. I would definitely stay here again.

Good value for the price

For a basic night's stay, you can't beat this place for the price. The room was clean and quiet; the heat worked, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. The bath fixtures have been update for a more modern look. I live only about 30 minutes away and was staying overnight to avoid a treacherous commute in the morning due to a snowstorm, so local attractions were not a factor.

Overnight trip

Very good experience at this hotel. Everything was clean, parking lot well lit & staff was helpful. Would have liked a coffee maker in my room, but a minor inconvenience for the value.
