Weekend to Ann Arbor for football game
The hotel was clean and the room was spacious and had applicances including a microwave, fridge, and ice maker in the freezer which all came in handy. Other reviews have said it was hard to find so I just printed out a close up map of the area from Google maps and we found it without a problem. We used yellow cab and the ride from the hotel to downtown area was $11 which was great. Also, we were only a few minutes from the field and it was not hard to find at al from where we were coming from. If we go back to Ann Arbor, we will definitly be staying at the Candlewood Suites.

Short drive from hotel
Check out Grizley Peak Brewing Company. The food was great and it was reasonably priced. They also brew their own beer so we did a beer tasting while we were waiting for our table. Staff was friendly and quick even though it was busy.

Good value & location
My husband and I spent two nights at Candlewood Suites recently. The receptionist was very friendly. She checked us in an hour early and gave us maps of the city and local area. Because of our early check-in, we were assigned one of the handicap accessible rooms right off the lobby. The room was clean & spacious though it did have a faint tobacco smell suggesting the room was not always smoke-free. Although the hotel location was right off the interstate loop, it was still difficult to find due to Ann Arbors love of one way streets and no left turns at lights! It took us several attempts and U-turns to get into the correct lane to enter the hotel (the sign of which is rather small). That was the only negative about staying at Candlewood Suites. The postives include plenty of nearby restaurants, a shopping mall, and a good price.

Short drive from hotel
We went to see a movie at the Rave Motion Picture Theatre a few exits down the road from the hotel on Carpenter Road (Ypsilanti). It was a huge, new theatre with 20 screens.

Not your typical Hotel, but OK
Was expecting a typical hotel with lobby and breakfast room. Instead the lobby was a window. housekeeping was not daily and you had to bring your towels and sheets to lobby to refresh. No big deal but not what we were expecting. Rooms were clean. Kitchen with fridge and cooking area was a bonus. Once you get over the non extra's the overall stay was pleasant. Do it again? Maybe!

It was..."OK".
It was a little strange. We get there and you have to get your room key from a 'lock box' in the vestibule before entering the hotel. It wasn't very warm and inviting. the rooms were ok...shower water pressure was horrid, and the 'curved' shower curtain bar was nothing but annoying. The bed was very comfy though and overall it was ok. Wouldn't spend another night there though.

Down town Ann Arbor was not far away. The lights are beautiful in December, so if you like to walk, make sure to bring a warm coat, hat, and gloves.

The Good the bad and the really ugly
The hotel is in a good location and easy to get to. It is clean, however, if you want MAID service, forget it! They do not clean your rooms during your stay, they do not bring you new towels. IF you want clean towels, you have to take your used ones to the hotel front desk and they will replace them. We had a sink in the bathroom that wouldnt drain, we told them about the problem, they told us they would get their maintance man to fix it, however he was not in for 2 days..and it never did get fixed. Overall, the room was clean, however if you are going to pay money to stay in a hotel...this would not be my choice if you care about ammenities!!!

Very friendly staff!
The room was a lot nicer than I expected! I was not expecting a full fridge and a full kitchen as well. Everything was very nice. I am very picky when it comes to clean hotels and this one was very nice. The free wi-fi was very nice and being able to watch HBO was nice as well. I was very impressed with the high security they have after 11pm. However, I wish they had a continental breakfast. The hotel was located near a lot of shopping and about a 5 minute drive to downtown Ann Arbor which I highly recommend walking around at night.

I stayed here for a conference at UM at the end of October. The front desk lady first put me into a third floor room that was literally vibrating from the dryer vent which split two rooms (the room I was put into was 312). To her credit, she apologized and moved me to a room on the second floor. The most irritating part of the experience was the heating/cooling system which turns on and off randomly. There's no way to control it at all. I tried to set the temperature but it doesn't matter. The system turns on with such force that you can no longer hear the TV. Such a racket also makes it tough to sleep at night. It would have been nice to warm the room up at night as it was 40 degrees outside. Instead, I slept in pants and a fleece. The free wireless internet was mostly reliable but not always. I had to call customer service - an 800 number -to get that fixed. Water pressure was so-so. They really need to do something with the climate control. On the positive side, there's good food options within walking distance and the staff seems accommodating. There's silverware and pots and pans as well that did the job. The recliner in the corner of the room smelled like it was doused in febreeze. I didn't sit on it.
