This hotel is very run down and dirty. The rugs were so old and stained that you need to have shoes at all times. The sheets were old and worn out-the bottom sheet wouldn't even stay on the bed.The towels were so thin you could see through them. The breakfast is stale raisin bran and a loaf of white bread tossed on the counter. This is a nasty, run down hotel. It looked like something from a 3rd world country. It was conveniently located near stores and restaurants. The staff was nice.

OK stay
My husband and I came to Ann Arbor to visit our son. We chose the hotel for its convenience to his home and the campus. It was adequate for our needs, however, I will not choose to stay there again. While the staff was very friendly, the hotel is in a state of disrepair and is very dated. Our room was conveniently located near the back door- however, it seemed the lock was broken on the outer door. As we came in late at night, there were some safety concerns.

A Scary Situation
My fiance' and I recently stayed at the Ann Arbor Victory Inn with some friends who joined us for a UofM football weekend. I will try to keep our nightmare experience brief, but what transpired leads me to encourage other travelers to find a different hotel (I will also add that I rarely write reviews - good or bad - but this experience made me feel it is necessary). When we first arrived and checked in to our 'suite', we were frustrated to find that the fold out couch had no springs and was unusable (i.e. the mattress fell through the frame). My friends and I laughed off the condition of the room with college reminiscing jokes. Upon inquiry at the front desk, the employee offered to send a roll-away bed; not a solution for 1 of 2 couples. Next, he offered to send someone to 'fix' the fold out couch; not going to happen quickly - do you mean replace? Last, they agreed to give us a new room. We make it to the new room and start to settle in - the (multiple) lamp shades were torn and stained, the bathroom toilet had dirty brown liquid in it; let's just say it was dirty. At this point I offered to reserve a more expensive -clean- alternative, but my friends and fiance' said we could make it work. They are good people and I think didn't want to make me feel bad for booking the Victory Inn. We should have left then... We grab some dinner and a six pack of beer and head back to the Victory Inn for what should have been a quiet evening, given the tailgating and corresponding football game planned for the next day. We were in bed by 10:30pm. We were awakened at 3am to a woman in a room above us screaming 'Get off of me, get the ___ off of me!" Our immediate response is to call the front desk and report that there seems to be a problem upstairs. After reporting what we heard, the front desk employee's response was "Maybe the woman is pregnant?" Huh?!?!? We call 9-1-1. While on the phone with the police, the front desk employee comes to our room and asks "Where is the woman?" At this point we get worried that if there is something terrible occurring above us, the last thing we want happening is the front desk guy knocking on doors asking 'where is the woman?'... The police come to the hotel and to our knowledge don't find anything wrong. WE HOPE SO. But the response (or lack thereof) by the front desk employee was unacceptable, and left us in fear of some other guest retaliating against us for our concern over his or her rough night with a lover... Needless to stay I stayed up the rest of the -morning- to make sure noone else came to our door. As an FYI, I am writing the management of the hotel to report the incident and will be requesting a full refund. DON"T STAY HERE.

The hotel has seen better days. But while some deterioration in the facility and furniture is noticeable, everything is in good working order and clean. Easy access from freeway, plenty of parking, across from shopping and restaurants, short drive to downtown Ann Arbor. So for me, needing to spend one night in the area, it was a very affordable way to spend a night and take a shower. They even include a (very basic) breakfast.

No other option...
We chose this hotel because it was one of the only ones located close to the football stadium. Our main objectives were to go out downtown and to go to the football game. This hotel was fine for that because it was close to the game and easy access from the interstate. It was a little shady however... It has not been renovated in a long time. The "continental breakfast" was bread and a toaster. The staff was friendly and for the most part the room was clean, it's just hard to feel that way when you know the blankets and furniture has been there for years and years and years. Maybe worth the extra drive and money to stay a little ways down the road at the chain hotels.

Better Than Expected
After reading some of the other reviews, I was pleasantly surprised to find this hotel exceeded my expectations (to be fair, my expectations were pretty low to begin with). Although this is certainly not the nicest place to stay, it was a good value considering the cost, especially if you're not planning on spending much time there. I have no complaints about the cleanliness of the room, which was the biggest thing I was worried about. If you just need a place to spend the night, this hotel is a decent place to stay.

Not even worth the money...
Were in town for a football game so went with the cheapest hotel we could find. The location is nice (right off the freeway) but that's about it. The TVs are ANCIENT...terrible picture quality and channel ABC had no volume. The shampoo was given in packets so you had to rip it to use which is IMPOSSIBLE when you're wet in the shower. I'd definitely spend a few bucks more to stay somewhere else in the future.

Avoid this hotel
I could not believe if I had not experienced it myself with my family. Sofa bed was totally broken and when told the front desk, his response was so what. There was no blanket on the bed or in the closet. Extremely disappointed. The staff attitude was salt on the wound. Never again in this debilated place.

Are you desparate?
Room smelled like the sewer was backed up. Towels were like sandpaper. Ironing board but no iron. There were ants everywhere. The staff was useless. TV ? how about 10 channels. Don't waste your money.
