Great Night at Grand Traverse!

Great night at the Grand Traverse Resort. We went for Valentine's Day evening and had a wonderful night. There were events going on and they were very accommodating. The only negative thing is that we were put right next to a room with kids and a family so it was quite loud. Besides that, we had a great time in a very nice hotel.

Do not Stay Here

had a bad night;s sleep. room is old, nothing special. the A/C unit is extremely loud. Party next door woke us up at 2:00 am and continued well past 4:00 am. Calls to front desk and visit to front desk did nothing. Said it was a group of golfers. Beware of hidden resort fees. Not worth the $300 you will spend per night. Go somewhere else and save $200 a night and have a good experience. Disappointing management. Will not return.

TC getaway

Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. The Grand Traverse is a wonderful upscale hotel. The staff at the front desk was friendly, informative, and worked well together as it was very busy. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable other than that room was average. Did not eat at any of the resturants but did head up to bar Arie for cocktails. Very nice decor. Again service was great and enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel. Did not use golf course or spa but have on other visits to hotel and they are excellent as well.

Expensive for what you get

Resort/hotel is nice but very expensive for what you get. Our shower did not work and had to be repaired. The toilet seat was broken and the room was nothing special. After you pay for your room you pay an additional 14.95 per day "resort" fee.

No Real Complaints

We stayed here for two weeknights during early April (the off-season). Almost all positive thoughts regarding the hotel, except the following: 1) It's the most expensive hotel in the area, and I can't say whether or not the extra $$ was worth it. I personally think we would've had just as good of an experience at another hotel, but that's impossible to know for certain. 2) One minor quibble with the hotel itself is that I was fairly certain our room was supposed to have a fridge & microwave, and we had neither. So I had to have the hotel front desk microwave my leftover/carryout dinner. Not a bid deal, but a slight annoyance. I'd list the positives about the hotel, but they would be way too long, as from the pool & gym to the room cleanliness & friendly staff were all as good as you could hope for.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

My wife and I were amazed by the Tuscan Bistro just northwest of downtown on M-22. We hadn't had Italian food that good since our honeymoon in Italy itself. Show up before 6:00pm for a $25 salad, entree, dessert, and glass of wine, otherwise the entrees themselves were about $20 on their own.

Nice Stay

Good place for kids. Great evening music in lounge. Pool was great for hours of fun for kids. Good location close to everything. Mt. Holiday close by for no-wait skiing and tubing. On a busy weekend, a good alternative to Boyne or Nubs Nob.

Dirty floor = bad for babies

My 11 month old twins found SO MANY crumbs (YUCK--of course they want to put it in their mouth) and other small objects on the floor. I wish they'd vacuum like they are cleaning for their kids to be crawling around, because it sure wasn't good enough for mine! I also didn't like being charged a "resort" fee when all we did was swim in the pool. If we did anything else, I could understand, but every hotel should allow you to swim in their pool for free.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

If you want to go into TC at all, plan on a good 20 minute commute to the mall or shopping district! It isn't close to this hotel at all. If you are planning to stay put the whole time, it is great.

Great getaway

We stayed at the hotel and overall the room and bed was clean. There is so much to do at this hotel even during the winter time. There's tennis, pool, spa, indoor golf, snowmobiling, Starbucks, live music and great restaurants. The only thing I can complain is that they do not provide free bottle water not even at the spa or at the gym especially with the price you pay to stay.
