nice place
The Howard Johnson in South Portland is a decent hotel. Rooms were clean, breakfast was good for what it was. My only complaint is the smoke smell in the entry way and elevator. Short drive to downtown Portland.

Weekend in Portland
The smoke smell when you enter the lobby is overwhelming. The beds feel as though you are sleeping on concrete w/ a cardboard cover. Went on this trip with my father and sister and all of us slept aweful. My sisters sheets got juice a couple juice stains on them but housekeeping didn't bother to change them.

so so
Got in after midnight and left at noon the next day after traveling all day long to get there for a stop over. Had a bit of difficulty finding from airport and then our remote for television didn't work, there were warnings not to use television without remote.....and then couldn't get on line because wireless internet was not working. Somewhat of a disappointment.

Great location for the price
The staff was there for anything I needed. My luggage got soak with jet fuel on the way to Portland and the staff stepped in with toiletries and help with where to go to get new things.

Good price-close to business
The motel was close to my business needs. There were restaurants and shopping close by for my off time. I appreciated how quiet it was. Since I was traveling alone on business I felt safe in the location.

Convenient to my Portland Itinerary
The hotel was conveniently accessible to the interstate into Portland, but yet in a very quiet residential area. I was there for a marathon and wanted a good night's rest, and easy access to the events. My expectations were clearly met!
