A little off the beaten path
The hotel is a little off the beaten path a mile or two down the road, but as far as a place to stay, perfect for business. (I know I will consider them again for the next family get away.) Some rooms offer dual bedrooms, with Wi-Fi and desk/work areas, yet plenty of room to sit back and relax in the common area. And as far as starting the day, they handle breakfast. Clean, quiet, and worth the extra mile.

Business/Pleasure Stay – High & Low Marks to Inn
Regarding my stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Scarborough: The Four Big Pluses: The staff was very courteous and attentive. The breakfast had a wide assortment of items to choose from with a comfortable atmosphere to dine. The hotel room (small suite) was nicely laid out and had all the amenities needed to stay a long weekend or several weeks at a time comfortably. Good location of hotel for my needs. The Two Big Minuses: The hallway had a consistent and strong burnt rubber smell. It was a very unpleasant odor but thankfully, the smell did not permeate into our room. Our room faced I95 and the traffic noise was a little loud and constant. I will consider staying there again but will request a room not facing the highway.

Noise from highway
My room was on the 2nd floor, on the west side of the hotel (highway side), and there was quite a bit of truck noise especially beginning at 5 AM.

Stayed at this property to scout for summer rentals next year. The property was clean and quiet even though it was entirely booked.[...] were great hosts.Property sits next to I95. Road noise is noticible. I got a $129 rate[...] Otherwise the $179 rate is rather high.Breakfast was good but monotonous. How many days can you eat scrambled eggs?

Short drive from hotel
Ocean Gardens is a small country style restaurant with the best lobster prices, 3 for $21.95. They were good although the rest of the food is mediocre. If you want lobster at an inexpensive price, this is the place.

Very Impressed
We visited Portland, ME for a family member's 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration and stayed at the Residence Inn as they have suites and complimentary breakfasts. It was in a quiet location close to the shopping mall, and across the street from a major grocery store. Only a 5-10 minute drive to the airport... Portland, Saco... very convenient. The room had all the amenities, updated appliances and granite countertops, bed was comfortable, friendly (great) service, enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again if in the area. Could not be happier..

Not Bad for the Price
The staff was very friendly and the breakfast wsa great. OUr first room smelled and was quite dirty. The staff moved us quickly and the second room was fine.
