Don't waste the money
The door stuck and would not open properly, there was trash on the floor near the bed, and you could hear everything through the door and walls. To make it even worse, there were people that were yelling in the hall and slamming doors. Someone did come up and tell them to stop around 5 am, but as soon as they left, the party started again. I could not tell you whether it was the party or the bed that felt like I was sleeping on a concrete floor that kept me up, but I did not get any sleep. I will never return to this hotel.

Rosie's on Fore Street was fantastic. Great Staff, food and a relaxed friendly atmosphere where you can be yourself. It is must when in Portland.

Motel 6
The location is good- a ways off from downtown Portland, which I didn't want to stay in, but now wished I had!! I will stay in a hotel downtown, pay 50 dollars extra a night for a room, and have a nicer, cleaner experience! The motel staff at the front desk- cute, small girl with short brown hair, was VERY helpful and courteous. She really is in the right line of work. I could see her working at a higher class hotel, for sure! I booked a NON SMOKING room and the WHOLE 2nd floor (which had no smoking signs on EVERY door mind you) smelled like a dirty ashtray! The bed was as comfortable as my bed at home, the problem with THAT is I have been needing a new bed for a long time due to the fact that is so, so uncomfortable! I booked a QUEEN sized bed for my husband and myself and slept in a FULL bed with TWO WIMPY pillows!! If Motel 6 wants to improve just a LITTLE bit they could give you TWO pillows and a little nicer comforter-------->>> that would go a long way, of course it would STILL have much farther to go to even earn ONE more star!! Overall, my recommendation would be spend $20-$50 extra a night and stay in downtown Portland. Save yourself a headache driving from the motel to the downtown area, not have to pay $5-$10 for PARKING in the d/t area, have a nicer room (possibly with a nice BREAKFAST), and just be more comfortable while you shop, dine, and check out a fantastic OLD PORT! :)

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
There are MANY low priced meal options around this location, so if you are on a budget (AND I'd say you'd have to be if you stay at this motel) it is GREAT to be able to eat less expensively than in the middle of downtown Portland

Bed Bugs = No Stay!!!!
I've stayed at this hotel with my gf two other times. Each time the police were there for some reason or another....in fact one time, there was an unconcious girl in the room across the hallway and the police broke down her door....great night!!!!!!!!! But this stay....WINS FOR THE WORST STAY! Actually....We didn't stay. We checked in and paid (even though my gf begged me not to stay here again because of the police and what not but we both ended up agreeing that it was the cheapest place to stay in the area when visiting her family). When we went out to get our luggage, a lady approaced us and said that her kids were with her and they had spent the night the night before. She said that her kids were covered in BED BUG BITES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY GIRLFRIEND HAD TO GET REAL NASTY THREATENING TO CALL CORPORATE BEFORE THEY WOULD GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK!!!!!!

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, JUST STAY SOME PLACE ELSE. YOU'LL REGRET IT ONCE YOU GET HERE. WHETHER ITS PROSTITUTION OR DEAD GIRLS ACROSS THE HALLWAY OR BED BUGS, THIS PLACE SUCKS!

OK place to stay
The Motel 6 was a fairly good value with all the basic needs. However, being a non-smoker, I found the hallways reeked of cigarette smoke most of the time. The room was relatively odor free until the bathroom fan was turned on and then there was a slight odor of cigarette smoke. There were no smoking signs in the office area and elevator, but there was a strong odor of cigarette smoke whenever I passed through them. If you are looking for a non-smoking environment like I do, skip this Motel 6.

Motel 6 Portland
Good for the price paid. It was clean and quiet. Don't expect too much (no breakfast, no balcony, no shampoo, no fridge and no hair dryer) and you won't be desapointed. It's only 20 min. from Old Orchard Beach. Well located just beside the highway I95, Supermarket, Pizza Hut, Burger KIng, Denny's and Mc Donald.

Reasonable price with decent stuff.
Everything was decent for me. The bad thing was I found facial tissue stuck in the drain of tub. Also, I had a hard time to find the entrance of the hotel.

It was typical motel 6--pretty bare bones, but adequate. the bed could have been firmer, but it was ok, all in all, for the price.
