Days Inn Kittery

We stayed here on our vacation to the coast of Maine and had booked another night for our way back through a week later. After booking [...], we had to cut our trip short and cancel our reservation for the following week. The hotel would not refund our money and were extremely rude to me over the phone[...]. During our stay, the hallway had an overwhelming smell of urine [*]. The room was tiny, run down, and the staff turned our ac unit off after we left for a brief evening visit to Portsmouth, so it was hot when we returned. Horrible excuse for a Days Inn and rude, unreasonable management.

The location was good for our needs since we were attending the Blue Angels Air show a short distance away in Portsmouth, NH. The room was OK and the king bed comfortable. The entire hotel smelled of Indian food. Our room smelled to the extent that we needed to keep the door open, the window open, and the fan on. When we returned home, our clothes smelled. The morning breakfast was just OK. Breakfast was scheduled to begin at 7AM, however, it was not ready by that time. Several quests needed to wait for the front desk person to begin preparing and that was some time after 7AM. Many people left & went to restaurants to eat. Both toasters were broken, each with only 2 slots working. Not a good morning for the Days Inn in Kittery, ME.

Great location to Portsmouth, NH. False Advertisment of Free wi-fi and HBO.

The hotel was absolutely perfect. The Breakfast was awful, warm milk and orange juice was all water..Not my idea of a way to start the day..

5 minute drive to downtown Portsmouth NH which has lots to see and do. Also 5 minute drive to Kittery outlet stores.

Wanted to stay over in Kittery a couple of days to relax and do the outlets. Room was tiny and smell of insecticide was so strong, I could hardly breathe upon entering! Hallway smell was just as bad and hot, too! Turned on AC and immediately left for an hour. My clothes wreaked of that smell while I went shopping. When I got back, the room was reasonably cooled off, which helped the smell some. I decided I could probably stand it - just hoped it wasn't toxic! There were dim bulbs (probably 25 watt or less) in the only two wall mounted lamps in the tiny room. So I couldn't read. There was no guide for the satellite TV., so I had no idea how to look for programs I wanted to watch. Most of the channels were unfamiliar anyway, and there weren't many of them. I just turned it off. Radio reception was all static-y, so I couldn't listen to talk radio either. No light for reading. It was 8 p.m., and relaxing in that dark, smelly little room for the rest of the evening wasn't a pleasant prospect. But I had no choice. The pool that they supposedly had was not open, and it was too hot to enjoy being outside anyway. So I pulled back the bedspread, and there was an ancient, discolored "blanket" with disgusting drip and spill stains all over it, along with rips and holes. I decided I was going to sleep in my clothes. And because I had paid in advance on the website, with no chance of a refund whatsoever, I was stuck there for the night. I decided that one night at this Days Inn was more than enough, and no way was I going to stay here another night, even though I had paid for it! Early the next morning I got myself out of there as soon as possible! I didn't care that I was out $60 that I had prepaid for the 2nd night - that's how bad you want to get away from there if you have the misfortune of booking the place! My advice - don't go just by price, like I did. Don't go by pictures either - my room bore no resemblence to the picture on the website! And pay attention to the reviews. This place had many bad reviews, especially about the dirt and the smell, and one glowing review. Don't trust a single good review among all the bad ones. Chances are that experience never happened. Don't stay at the Kittery Days Inn - ever! You've been warned!

Just stayed overnight. Overall a fair experience.

The manager was Awesome

You walk in and it smells like moth balls. The rooms were decent but I turned the heat on andit smelt like burnt hair. The drain wouldn't drain so we had to switch rooms late at night. They have breakfast for you but they don't tell you anything about it. Sone bread and cereal. I left a stuffed animal there and called to see if they could ship it to me and they said they never found it.
