Fall trip to Maine
This was a cottage, the building had settled and it leaned to one side a little. I felt like I was dizzy. End of the season so only one other cottage was being used. No amenities, like hair dryer, shampoo, etc.. Location was good, but I would stay somewhere else knowing that there are vacancies everywhere this time of year and would not have had to reserve ahead if time., Man running it, owner I assume, was very nice, and he had a nice breakfast of muffins, toast and coffee set up.

Fantastic and cute!
My girlfriend and I loved the room! Location is great. Very convenient by car to every bit of sites around all sides of bar harbor. Cozy, quirky and cool. The family that runs the place were great. A classic Motel experience! Defin ite stay again. We stayed in room number 4 and it was cleaner than the previous, more expensive and further away motel. We checked in, showered, then ran to downtown Finns irish pub for dinner then port to acadia national park then next day. Felt like we could have walled to Finns. Dfinitely will bike to downtown Bar Harbor next time we visit, cuz we will stay here again. :) Thanks for a nice stay and comfy sleep. (&word to the wise and/or larger girth - you might ask the size of bathroom...if thats a concern, think NYC aptm size) All together we loved it.

Good Location & Price
We went for the location, and price. Matress & pillows good, towels were awesome. Cheap matress pad slid around, which wasn't comfortable. It was clean. It was old. The bathroom door didn't close. Lots of chairs, but the TV was on a low stand and could only be seen from the bed.

Nice owner, but we wont be returning
We booked this motel because it was the lowest price [...]. Mistake #1. Walked in the motel office to the smell of mothballs (no kidding), and met a nice man - the owner. He explained that the price [...] didn't include local taxes [...], nor did it include a fee of some sort [...]. I had read another reviewer's mention of this - sadly only AFTER I had booked the room. Mistake #2. I got the key to our room, and set out with the mindset that we will make the best of it. My son participated, but my wife had some difficulty. We entered the room to another smell - MOLD. The room had been straightened, but the sheets had stains on them, and a few stray hairs as well. My son was playfully saying things like "Mmm, the room smells like almonds!", and "Wow, there are ornaments on our ceiling!" referring to the water stained panels. The place is just dated and very much in need of remodeling. Entering the bathroom was like stepping into the 1950's, complete with exposed florescent vertical bulbs on either side of the mirror that you had to twist turn on separately (one bulb didnt even work). Damage in the shower wall, and other oddities like that made us question whether we should trust taking a shower. Finally, the wall unit air conditioner did work, but filled the room with a new smell that we couldnt quite identify. The new smell battled with the moldy smell to make a quaint aroma we slept with all night. Trip into Bar Harbor took 45 minutes, 1:15 with traffic. We will not be back, and aside from the memorable quotes our son gave us, the other memories will haunt us.

Not Applicable
This hotel is in Ellsworth, but that means it is a long way from the action of Bar Harbor. In addition, the national park area is far away. Everything seemed far away. We will be doing a little extra leg work next trip to find an inexpensive place in Bar Harbor. It will make the stay much more enjoyable, because there is truly nothing in Ellsworth worthwhile of your time.

Avoid this Dump
This is the worst place we have stayed in. The room was super hot and smelled of dogs. The air conditioner rattled so loud it was hard to sleep. The building was in a general state of disrepair. The building in the picture is the operators house, not the rooms where you stay. I didn't read the poor reviews until after I booked. Breakfast was very basic.

Careful - Cottage description misleading
The hotel description on [...](3*, full bath, air conditioning) is wrong. We tried to find some other accomodation, but it was already late and during high season, so Ellsworth was pretty much fully booked and so we had to stay. The hotel has motel style rooms and cottages. I can't say anything about the motel rooms (because none were available), but the cottages are very basic (no phone, no air conditioning, no bath tub, tiny room and shower, very old and worn and in poor condition). An additional warning: the hotel charges a reservation fee (in addition to the room price and tax) which is not shown when reserving a room through [...].A discussion with the owner led nowhere - he says he gave correct descriptions to his agency, and is not responsible for the text on [...](which does not differentiate between cottages and motel rooms, and doesn't mention the reservation fee). The room was reasonably clean though, and the complimentary breakfast was ok.With a correct description as a basic motel, with no air conditioning, phone, bath tub etc., it would have been ok for us, but given the text on [...]the hotel failed to meet our ecpectations.
