Perched high on a bluff overlooking the picturesque Frenchman Bay the Bar Harbor Hotel Bluenose Inn is a stately addition to the view looking back from the water onto Mount Desert Island. The historic property built by the wife of the late American artist William Morris Hunt and owned by a progression of Americas most influential families has become a standard bearer among the inns offering hospitality to the many visitors who come to appreciate the wild beauty of the Downeast coastline and Acadia National Park. The 98 room 4 diamond resort dressed in classic Victorian architecture features two lodging buildings appealing both to those who are looking for the luxurious in the Mizzentop and those who desire the personalized service of an upscale resort with more modest accommodations in the Stenna Nordica. All guests enjoy the use of indoor and outdoor heated pools Jacuzzi steam room fitness room and on property massage therapist. For the dining pleasure of guests breakfast and dinner is casual at the Rinehart Wonder View Restaurant with its glass walls and stunning views of the bay. The Great Room Bistro and Lounge offer light dining full beverage service and entertainment nightly in season. The Rose Garden is the crown of dining experiences in Bar Harbor. This four diamond restaurant furnishes culinary artistry and unparalleled wine selections in the beautiful garden motif dining room. With all its beauty and amenities there isnt much left for the guest to have to bring with them. But of any of its features the most striking is the passion with which every member of the staff seeks to be of service to each guest. In short their goal is to spoil you.

Nice place

Great service. Pool was in another building and didn't have change rooms so it was not useful when it was cold outside. Elevator had some issues at times. The view from our room was wonderful.

Don't plan on using the Acadia shuttles after Columbus Day. Everything in Bar Harbor tends to close down after Columbus day.

Great hotel!

Wonderful hotel! Large, spacious, comfortable room with a fabulous view! "Signage" is awful in this town--plan ahead to avoid frustrating search in the dark after hours of driving. Well worth the effort tho!

Fantastic hotel with a view

Even though it was August, we had to try out the gas fireplace. It did not light properly and we immediately notified the hotel. The manager came to see our concern, and after realizing that he could not fix it, we were upgraded to a beautiful room on a higher floor with an amazing view of the harbor. Bar Harbor has great restaurants, many water excursions, and free shuttle service to all points on the island. We did not have time to enjoy the pools or spa. The restaurant is casual with a well balanced menu, and it sits higher than the hotel so again the view of the bay while you eat is enjoyable. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a little bit of luxury at a beautiful resort.

Beautiful scenery

The hotel was spotless and beautiful. It does have a spa which we did not take advantage of. There is both an indoor and an outdoor pool-an advantage given the unpredictable weather on the coast of Northern Maine. Views from the balconies and the restaurant are breathtaking. The hotel is located a short distance from downtown-very walkable or you can drive. The hotel is also located on the free shuttle loop.

Noisy but amazing view

Front desk staff was not at all efficient. The restaurant staff was friendly yet very slow with sitting down people and providing service. The meals at the restaurant were waaay overpriced and not at all good. The view, however, is beyond amazing! Pianist was great.

Beautiful room with a fabulous view

We loved the location and the beautiful view. The bed was very comfortable. We were disappointed with our dinner. The steak was fatty and rather tough and the baked potato was dry. However, the service was good and the view great.

OVERPRICED

PERHAPS THIS IS AN ACCEPTABLE MAINE MARTINI BUT, FOR US, THE VOLUME WAS SMALL AND THE PRICE HIGH. WE HAVE NEVER PAID $10.OOO PER MARTINI...ANYWHERE! THE ROSE GARDEN IS CUTE AND THE SERVICE IS GOOD,; BUT THE PRICE QUITE HIGH FOR THE FOOD INVOLVED. I WOULD NOT CHOOSE TO REVISIT THIS RESTAURANT IF I WERE TO STAY THERE FOR A FEW DAYS. THE SMALLER RIEINHART RESTARUANT IS A BETTER VALUE. THE ROOMS ARE QUITE NICE AND THE VIEW MUST BE TERRIFIC. WE WERE THERE FOR TWO RAINY DAYS AND NEVER SAW THE BAY ALL IN ALL...GREAT POTENTIAL, AT A LOWEER PRICE.

comfort

I have done alot of traveling and have stayed in more holtels than I can remember, but i have never had a better nights sleep than I did at the Bluenose Inn, Bat Harbor. The king size bed had a down matress pad and comforter that were out of this world. Clean, crisp bed linens, lots & lots of cozy pillows.
