Not a Grand hotel, but a good hotel, in a very convenient location ...

Hotel is very convenient for picking up the shuttle bus service that goes into the park. This gives you the chance of being dropped at one end of a trail and picking up another shuttle at the far end. We didn't need to use the car during our stay

This is a great place to stay. Located right on Main Street in Bar Harbor and easy walk to shops, restaurants, and the water ... front. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and spotless and very large including the bathroom. Very quiet at night when sleeping. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of choices and excellent, tasty food. Large seating area for guests to eat breakfast and not feel rushed.

Take advantage of early bird specials offerred at many area restaurants. Hotel staff was helpful in calling ahead to get us into restaurants we were interested in going to.

Pros: Reasonably priced considering it's "in town" location. Friendly staff, granite counter tops, newer furniture. Cons: ... Pricey compared to the many bargain hotels/motels in Bar Harbor. Overall, a fantastic place to stay if you're willing to pay the premium.

Great place to stay
Victor Oct 24, 2008
The Bar Harbor Grand Hotel has a distinct advantage...it's location. Bar Harbor, though a long drive from the nearest ... interstate, is an amazingly beautiful town, the residents warm and welcoming. As for the hotel's specifics, I found the staff very friendly and helpful about places to see and dine during my stay. The room was spacious and comfortable, very clean and modern, the free breakfast a big help to a vacationing family. The town of Bar Harbor was all within walking distance, as was a shore walk around the scenic bay. Just a short drive away is Acadia National Park, an unbelievably beautiful place that must be seen to be appreciated. In a week that included 4 states and multiple sights, Bar Harbor and the Grand Hotel were the highlights.

Take the park loop, and stop at each and every location along the way for ever-changing and breath-taking sights. Drive up Cadillac Mountain for the ultimate view. Hikers and climbers have plenty of options, too.

The Bar Harbour Grand Hotel is a great place to stay. It is very close to the town, less than 3 blocks, (3 short blocks.) ... They are located in the middle of the greatest places to eat, from quick bites to fine dining. We actually stayed an extra night. Very CLEAN. The hotel is very pretty-lots of flowers. The staff is very kind. A quiet setting-down from the busy main cross-roads.
Traveler type: Family
The warf is only about 6 small blocks away. You can go on a whale watch tour but you better not be at all sea sick-it's very choppy. You also can go on a tour boat to see the puffins-only offered in early morning. Many local little site to shop.

The Bar Harbor Grand offered a pleasent experience. Conveniently located to food and drink, the shopping area, the harbor, ... and a short drive to the Acadia National Forest. The hotel had a Bed and Breakfast feel to it, and although it is close to the action, the area is quiet. The staff was extremely courtious and helpful. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed Bar Harbor Brewery's Thunder Hole Ale.
