Good value for a last minute booking
The staff was courteous and helpful. The room was ok, large, but a bit dated (dark/light wood paneling, blue-green thin carpet). The bathroom fixtures were fairly new and space an adequate size. The free WiFi had a poor signal and was in and out throughout our stay. It was a 5 min walk to Main Street, a definite plus! Our main complaint would have to be the bed, as it was like sleeping directly on springs! Very uncomfortable and bouncy. The focus of our visit was to see Acadia Nat'l Park, which certainly didn't disappoint! For a last minute booking, The Anchorage Inn was adequate for our three night stay.

Our best meal was at Stewman's, right on the harbor and a great experience! Bring your wallet and a jacket if you eat outside at night.

not worth $170 per night
overall this hotel is livable. Room size OK, clean, perfect location in town. However for 170 bucks per night, we don't even have shampoo, not to mention hair drier, fridge or coffee pot. The bed must be pretty old since it made a lot noise. The smell of the room is ok not as bad as someone commented previously.

Good location
Perfect location for exploring Acadia. Quick drive to Ellsworth for a movie. Many places to eat and browse in walking distance. EXCELLENT little Irish pub called Leary's Landing near Main St.

Dissapointed
Not so great
For the money this hotel was pretty bad. Service by the girl at check in was awful as she clearly was tired of her job and almost to the point of rude. We read some good reviews from other websites that made it sound like a better experience, both of service and value (price). We met family up there that were in a better hotel for less money. Anchorage ownership appears to have forgotten this place for at least 20-30 years it seems. By the way Bar Harbor Motel was where our family stayed. Also [...]said check in at 2pm, but really it is 3pm, although don't expect them to be ready by then either.

Not bad but not great for the price
This motel was pretty much what we were looking for. It was a short walk to the shops and restaurants ect, Housekeeping was great!Room was clean and there was plenty of HOT HOT water. We were not looking for amenities and there were none. WIFI is marginal. plan on about 50 dollars more than it books for online,Taxes and fees I guess. Pretty pricey for the type of place it is but it is close to where you want to be when here

DO NOT STAY HERE
Stayed at this hotel over the 4th of July weekend. This hotel is extremely outdated, and FILTHY!!!! The bathroom had remenants of prior patrons, and the smell in the room resembled a musty basement. Although the location is perfect, it's not worth sacrificing cleanliness.

rather disappointed
The rooms weren't attractive or spacious! We were disappointed to enter the dark and extremely dated interior of the motel. The motel was musty and dark and old… Although clean, it desperately needed updating and some modern touches. We were pleased at the friendly welcome that we received from some of the young desk staff, but surprised when someone (we later was told was the owner!) responded to my husband's request for additional towels by throwing another small and threadbare towel in his direction. We were shocked that a motel that had no vacancy the night of our stay was unable to put a bit of the high room rate toward some improvements and modern touches. We will not stay here again.
