Usually a nice place
I'm usually pleased with this hotel with a good location right off the highway, cheap price, cleanliness, and a nice stay. It's not the ritz, but I don't feel like spending top dollar. However, this past stay wasn't that great. They were undergoing renovations to the rooms but I still felt like the bathroom could have used a better cleaning. And upon entering the room, I felt like I was in a freezer! Luckily the heater was easy and fast the heat the room up, but come on, it's winter - you need to heat the place! Hopefully the heat issue was due to the construction and hotel upgrades going on. I'll for sure give the place another go because it is the first time I'm disappointed with it.

Not what I expected
To start the reservation that I made in plenty of time was not met by the facility. I asked for a queen bed smoking room and rcvd a small full bed and non-smoking room. The receptionist stated, she was not given that information. One chair and a table barely able to hold a single cup. The receptionist on Friday night was rude and more concerned with her broken chair than helping customers (me and others I witnessed). The sink and bath have drain problems, by the time a took a brief shower the water was almost to my knees. Overall, this experience was a flop and I would NOT recommend other travelers to stay there.

Helpful staff
The hotel is easily accessible from interstate 95. Staff was helpful in assisting for a change of reservation done online

Good location
The location was excellent for sure. Very close to get back on 95. The first room we were given, we couldn't turn on the lights and the door couldn't shut. I had to go get another room. The bed was clean but the floor could have used a good cleaning and the the dust around the baseboards was a half-inch thick. The restaurant attached was very good and not expensive but the hotel itself could use a much needed renovation. Years ago Howard Johnson was always a place of quality. Where did that go.

I stayed on 3-31-12. My only problem was that the management gave me a different price quote per person for the same room and did not honor their own 45 dollar a night deal for that room. The outdoor sign said "low as $45.00". The next morning the woman working the front desk just shrubbed her shoulders and said she didnt know what to tell me. Strange!!!
