We were surprised that the back of the hotel had not been redone, as the advertisement shows only pictures of the front. Had we been aware of this, we probably would have chosen another hotel.

Had a roll away-bed both nights.. asked for extra pillows both days, no one ever came. Tub doesn't drain, while shower is running. No trash can in the bathroom but the bathroom did have a phone.(?)The mattress was hard. Headed home with a back ache.

Would Never Stay There Again!
The tub backed up when taking a shower and could not get it to drain. When trying to call the front desk about this issue and having not internet access as stated in the description the staff never picked up the phone. I had to search for a staff person to help every time I went to the front desk as no one was there and when I found the person I was given an attitude and told I would just have to wait. The internet and tub were never fixed. The exercise room only consists of a tiny treadmill and a few out of sequence free weights- very tiny room- which was not what I was told when I called before booking. The continental breakfast had some moldy bread and I saw a few ants around the cereal- needless to say I would not eat there.

Great Location
The Fireside Inn and Suites in Auburn, Maine was just off I-95, but I did not notice any traffic noise. The large room had two double beds, an actual closet with a door, two sinks separated from the bath, a desk with chair and a table. There were also two chairs, a small refrigerator and a microwave. The room was attrative and comfortable and had everything I needed...except soap, shampoo, conditioner, or lotion. I don't know if that is policy or just an oversight on the part of the housekeeper. They offered an average complimentary breakfast. The food in the restaurant was reasonable and very good. The hotel staff was efficient, helpful and gave me excellent directions to my scheduled workshop.

Good value for the money, but
The staff was terrific - very friendly and accommodating, and one could not ask for friendlier people. The cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired as the main areas of the carpets were vacuumed, but the hard-to-reach but still-visible areas could have benefited from use of the vacuum wand. There was a pile of sand that was in the room upon our arrival and it stayed by the radiator throughout our two-night stay. The popcorn from a previous guest was between the bed and the nightstand when we arrived, and still there when we left. Also, the bathroom floor could have benefited from a thorough cleaning. Overall, the rooms that we occupied needed updating, especially the commodes. However, the location was great as the property was directly off of the Interstate.

Not a great place to stay
Rooms not great. Mold on the walls. Room had musty moldy odor. Old fingernail clippings in the bed. Walls very thin so noise quite loud. No heat during summer even though it was in the 50's outside so room was very damp and cold. I was offered extra blankets. The front desk staff were very nice.

Nice place
The Fireside Inn was a nice place to stay. I would stay there again. Overall i would say it is your average hotel. Really no negative or positive things that stick out. Reasonable room for a reasonable price.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
I liked that there was a gas station and convenient store pretty much right in the parking lot.
