Tidelands Caribbean Hotel and Suites evokes island life with tropical landscaping and a relaxed atmosphere. Central location on the boardwalk makes Tidelands convenient to the beach and attractions like restaurants, shops, amusement parks, and recreational activities, including available golf packages. Two swimming pools and on-site Bluefin Bar and Grill make it easy for guests to sun and socialize without going far, though many diversions lie within walking distance.

The 133 guest rooms include two-room suites and efficiencies equipped with kitchenettes. Oceanview and Oceanfront rooms feature full or partial ocean views and some include renovated kitchenettes. it's just ok

Good- location, large room and king size bed,staff friendly just about it, cons- once you get the room you are on your own, forget about housekeeping. Never made beds when we left the room.Found empty beer can probably from last guest. TV are out dated. Hotel has three parking spot, don't move you car if you don't have to bc you will lose you spot and will have to park far. We paid lot more a night than it's was worth. But if you can get it for hundred dollar per night than it might be a good deal.

Terrible Experience, Huge Waste of Money

During my stay at Tidelands Caribbean in Ocean City MD, on June 30 - July 3, 2015, I had a terrible experience. I thoroughly regret the huge amount of money I spent on this hotel room, and to this day, my husband is still angry at me for making this reservation. The first issue was with the sleeping arrangements. The description on the booking website said that the room had a sofa sleeper, and allowed us to make the special request of an infant crib. A few days before my trip, I called the hotel directly to confirm those options. The clerk refused to even look up my reservation and said, the room has a sofa bed. And for the crib, you just tell us when you get here that you need it. I argued about that for a while, saying, well how can you guarantee that you will have a crib for us, if I just ask when we get there?, and he said, don't worry, we will have it for you and rushed me off the phone. We arrived at the hotel after a long night of driving to find that there was no crib in the room and no sheets/pillow for the sofa sleeper. We asked the people at the desk. They said they would get us sheets and pillows for the sofa bed, but that we could no longer get a crib because housekeeping had gone home for the day. As my husband carried stuff in from the car and I tried to soothe two crying children who had nowhere to sleep, my husband again asked for the sheets and was told they were coming. Frustrated, I called the front desk and asked again about the crib, and was told that they could get me one. We waited longer. My husband again asked someone for sheets and was finally given them, one hour after asking for them. I called the front desk again and, 45 minutes after I was told they were bringing a crib, they said they would not be able to bring us a crib until tomorrow (which they never did bring). There were several other issues with the room. We had asked to have a room away from the elevator so it would be quiet, and were put right next to a stair well with a broken door. At all hours of the night, people slammed the door, waking us up. This is also a major safety concern since the fire door was not opening and closing properly. We reported this to the maintenance people who said they would fix it. For an hour or so, the door seemed to work properly, then went right back to the slamming. The other safety concern was the TV remote, which was missing the back, exposing the batteries - definitely not safe around kids. On top of all of these issues, the room was a plumbing nightmare. The sink drain was backed up and the water pooled up in the sink every time we used it. The toilet constantly ran. The jets in the bathtub did not work - despite the fact that the room description says jacuzzi tub, I clearly did not get the experience I thought I was paying for. The people working at the front desk were apparently too important to be bothered to actually do their jobs. Every time I wanted to ask for something, they would either ignore me while they had a personal conversation, pretend to be on the phone even though they weren't talking, or just generally make me feel like the extra towels I wanted were such a huge pain to acquire that I should be ashamed of myself for asking. Finally, the thermostat in the room constantly reset the temperature by itself. Multiple times, we adjusted it to a comfortable temperature, only to find it reset itself. All in all, this room was not even close to worth the insane amount of money I threw away on it. I'm extremely disappointed, and will never let anyone I know waste their money here again. It's so sad that with all that potential - an amazing location, great space, potentially very nice rooms - someone has just let it become an overpriced roach motel. Whomever you are, you should feel very embarrassed for having charged so much money for such a poor experience.

Last short trip before my son went to college

One of the people in our party got sick with an ear ache, sinus infection and serious cough. I called the front desk 4 times from 8:00 pm until 1:30 am to request 4 additional pillows, so that she could sleep propped up in the bed since that made her the most comfortable and seemed to reduce her coughing spells. I never received the pillows – my request was ignored. Everyone else in our party (3 people) didn’t get much sleep that night. For the first few hours we lay awake listening to her loud coughing and eventually we all gave her our pillows so she could sleep propped up and cough less. We couldn’t sleep with her coughing and didn’t sleep comfortably without pillows. So in other words – we got screwed because hotel staff couldn’t honor a simple request for additional pillows. I am appalled that I paid over $500 for two nights and couldn’t get additional pillows for one night after making the request 4 times by calling front desk staff. The lack of customer service is beyond just an “I’m sorry”.

Inconsistent service

Check in time at this hotel is 3pm. There are two lobby areas you can go to for check in. At one of the lobbies, the service staff was awful! The young man they had behind the desk was bothered to be asked about room readiness and was rude! It was after 3:00. I became so fed up, I went to the other building, and received very helpful service. The room was not available until almost 4:00 pm. It was very clean, but the noise from the hallway was loud. The poor start with check in experience really impacted my desire to stay here again.

A horrible place

The room was dirty, the staff were unfriendly, the shower didn't work properly. This place is quite possibly the worst place in the boardwalk.

WEEKEND

Hotel surpassed my expectations! Super clean, and best of all right on the boardwalk. Although we did not have an oceanfront view, our balcony faced the side of the hotel with a spectacular, breathtaking side view of the ocean. Would definitely go back!!
