Extended Stay America Baltimore - BWI Airport

If you happen to be stranded at BWI and need an overnight hotel (as I did), note that there is *no* hotel shuttle to the Extended Stay BWI. Getting there means a $10 taxi cab, which is probably not a big deal, but you are *out of luck* if you need a early morning taxi service *back* to catch a flight at BWI. I literally called 5 taxi companies at 6:15 and all went to voicemail; one who finally agreed to take me said it would be 45 minutes (for a 6 minute drive)! If you are a single woman or a family w/ young kids, note that the surrounding area is an industrial park, and you would have to walk several (sketchy) pedestrian-unfriendly blocks to get a restaurant. Maybe because this is the cheapest hotel in the area, it tends to attract a pretty low-rent clientelle (who, oddly, seemed largely to have no intentions of flying at the airport a few minutes down the road). The front desk was unattended (as in, literally the lights were off at 6:30). The lady who checked me in was nice, but looked exhausted. There were a dozen *really* sketchy people all just milling around the tiny reception area and in front of the property. When I went to the only vending machine in the hotel, some guy walking around with no shirt was giving me the crazy-eye look. Lovely. As I walked to my "non-smoking" room, past the dozens of other rooms on the top floor with the little non-smoking signs next to them, had the privilege of breathing in smoke. When I entered my room I found -- you guessed it -- a heavily smoked-in room. Tar was thick on the walls, and the bedding reaked. The weird thing was the odd (surprising) pockets of updates -- the hardwood Pergo flooring in the bathroom and nice 45" flat screen tv stood as odd outliers among the dingy ancient kitchenette area & tragic carpet. Wifi was pretty decent, but hard to enjoy if you're worried about bedbugs (I kept my socks on when I walked around). I could even deal w/ the mildew and other funk on the shower, but when the bedding and pillows reek of smoke (to the point that my clothes and suitcase smelled like I'd been in a bar), that's just a deal-breaker. Every light switch cover was coated w/ sort of a dirty, tar gummy film. Now, I'm an experienced global traveler, so I've seen worse, but reality and the photos for this place are night and day different. Caveat emptor folks!

Although the staff was wonderful, the location and the cleanliness of the hotel was horrible. We were in a room directly over the front desk and there were doing construction which started at 6:00 a.m. We were there because of a power outage in our neighborhood and if we had known how low class this hotel was we would not have stayed there. Although there was a kitchenette it was so dirty that I couldn't cook anything. We were hoping to get some relief from a stressful weekend without air or water in 100 degree weather but this hotel did nothing but stress us out more.

They were absolutely great with us! Loved their courteous employees!

The hotel location was fine, but the room needs works. During my stay I killed 3 larger insects. The mattress was stained. There was no top sheet at all. The shower head didnt work properly. I was not impressed.

This hotel is conveniently located near the airport however people regularly hang out outside of the lobby which is right outside of some rooms which can be very noisy.

First of all the bedding was stained, the air conditioner did not work, nor did the shower..upon moving to another room, we were locked out bu the hotel staff, they could not re-open the room, and contemplated a ladder to the window to get our luggage out, after finally getting the room open we moved to a third room, this room on the first floor, had a window which could not be closed, thus we were moved to a 4th room!! Though the comped us for 1 of the 2 nights, the overall experience was not good. I travel to Bwi airport about 8 times a year, and by far this was my worst experience.
