Stuff and Shocking
Stacking a microwave on a mini fridge is so tacky. Had that been the only detractor, it would have been average. However, the exhaust fan in the bathroom did not function and the room air unit was faulty. In fact, the room air unit shocked me! Ouch. The shining stars at the hotel are the attentive staff.

The hotel struggled to survive the major Jan'11 snowstorm-- elevators out, parking a mess, private functions in restaurant continued despite glut of stranded travelers. Not a pretty sight; more like a surivor camp with room service (if then). But give'em a break; they tried to accommodate during a huge mess.

Everything was great except I had requested a microwave to be in the room upon my arrival and was not there. It took them about an hour to fulfill my request after calling the front desk due to them only having one person working in that department at that time. I would still recommend this hotel to friends and family due to how nice and clean the hotel room was.

Short drive from hotel
Instead of driving into the DC Metro area, take the red line into DC. It's a very short drive (5 minutes max) to the train station "Shady Grove", and about a 40 minute train ride. Make sure you buy the all-day metro ticket for 9 dollars as you will need to make transfers to other trains (mainly the blue and orange line).

A Pleasent week
Used the hotel as a base from which to visit several Family members in the area. Washington DC prices are high compared to Texas but the restarants were good.

Holiday Inn Gaithersburg review
The shuttle to the Metro station is handy. But they only come every half hour. So on a cold day, it could feel like a long wait. Our room was relatively quiet until the girls soccer teams arrive for the weekend. We also had a dripping water leak right over the toilet. So you needed your umbrella if you had to go. The pool and fitness center was nice to have.

Unbeatable location for the price
The ice machine was broken on our floor so we had to go to the next floor which was somewhat inconvenient The hostess in the cafe was very helpful and polite. I went to my grandaughter's graduation so the location was great.

Attended a football combine in Olney. Hotel only 7 miles away. Easy to find from I-270. Very quiet and peaceful. Great bar!

Good value hotel
It was a business trip. I enjoyed hi-speed internet, but the electrical outlet near desk was not working. The service was good, hotel had been recently renovated. The bed was comfortable, I had lots of clean towels, the TV had a good selection of channels. But there were no instructions on how to use the remote control. When I called for help, I was told someone would come by to answer questions. It never happened. The pool area was beautiful!
