right time, right place for us

We needed this location, a reasonable price and a clean pleasant place for our holiday stay visiting family at Riderwood Village. Hampton Inn delivered more than adequately on all counts. It isn't perfect because: the 2 bed rooms are doubles not queens, there is a pool but no hot tub, and the warm cookies were always gone by the time we came back to the hotel for the evening. On the plus side, breakfast was served early and was also there even later than promised. The breakfast area was clean and restocked when needed. Parking is free and access into and out of the hotel is relatively easy.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

If you have a rental car, there is a gas station right by the hotel so no need to get the rental agencies "filler up" deal. IHOP, which has late hours is right next door for late night meals.

Comfortable and excellent value in friendly accommodation

This is the best hotel experience I've ever had in the US. I've stayed for several nights twice, in this hotel and wouldn't expect anything better at any other hotel, no matter what the rating. This is an experience in which the staff are always cheerful and hardworking, where they will ensure that your requirements are met, and that your comfort and ease comes first. A first-class, five-star experience every time! You can't do better than this. Nearby shops and restaurants, free and wonderful breakfast, a great pool and good gym, a guest laundry…and all the kindness and care you could ever hope to receive. In-room coffee-maker and microwave ensure that you can meet your own catering needs if busy or simply don't want to go out.

Definitely stay here. You won't be disappointed.

Me and my family were very pleased with this hotel. The rooms were clean and very well laid out. Bed linens and coverings were very clean. Plenty of hot water. Courteous staff.

Great Stay

This hotel is slightly more money than others in the neighborhood but everything about it was above average. Staff was great and all very helpful. The restaurant options and nearby shopping plaza made it easy to eat and re-supply. A room refrigerator would make this a 5.

Exceeds Expectations!

I remembered staying at a Hampton Inn and LOVING the pillows, so I booked a single night at the College Park Hampton Inn so I could be ready for an early bus ride the next day without driving a long distance first. Check-in was very quick. I was given a handicapped accessible room which was no problem. It didn't appear noticeably different from a standard room. It seems the first thing I usually ckeck out when entering my hotel room for the first time is the bathroom. I'm not sure why that is. The decor at this hotel seems to have been updated recently. I liked the furniture style vanity with granite countertop. There's just something about the combination of wood and granite that makes you feel more valued as a guest than laminate ever will. This hotel room was very clean and well stocked. The towels in the bathroom were soft and fluffy- I Love That! The beds had four pillows on each allowing you to choose between what felt like a standard feather or a synthetic fill (my personal favorite). There was also a pillow to support your lower back if you're sitting up reading in bed. Now i'm admittedly a techie nerd, so I always check out the wi-fi internet connection. The wireless internet signal was strong and easy to log into with the password provided on my key card envelope. I was very pleased with the internet provided by this hotel. There were also plenty of cable channels to choose from. By far, i was most impressed by the breakfast provided the following morning. The selection was incredible and included hot foods like eggs and sausage as well as cold cereal, fruit, yogurt. My personal favorite were the do-it-yourself belgian waffles. Just make sure you spray the non-stick spray on the waffle iron first or you'll be picking the waffle off with the big fork like i did. Do not miss the breakfast. The only drawbacks i can find to mention about this hotel have to do with its location. While it is conveniently close to DC, the traffic around the hotel is often very heavy which can be frustrating. Also, there are no scenic views from your hotel window but this is not that type of destination. If you're looking for quality place to stay in the metro DC area, I recommend the College Park, MD Hampton Inn.

Beware!

Internet was only up 2/3 of the time. The pool was closed and from the look of construction won't be open again soon. Management told me all of my complaints were not valid. The bed wasn't on the frame when we arrived. The breakfast was included in the stay and was worth what we paid for it.

This facility is a very short drive to the Greenbelt Metro station and that's about the best thing I can say about it.

Great place to stay

Excellent hotel. Close to metro stop for easy access to the city. The rooms were clean and big enough for my family of four. We enjoyed the pool (with lifeguard on duty) and loved the breakfast. Only complaint was the "low flow" shower head.

Not again

My husband and I went to visit our daughter who is attending a summer program at the University of Maryland campus. We chose this hotel due to its closeness to the campus. The location did indeed turn out to be very good, unfortunately though, it was the only positive thing. The front desk receptionist upon our arrival was very curt and unfriendly-the others were nicer. At the time of our arrival, a loud party was in process downstairs. Just as we reached our room, a prankster pulled a fire alarm and we were forced to evacuate our room before even settling in. Our room was small and clearly had not been vacuumed any time lately. The entire parameter of the room had a grey collection of dust. The furniture was old and rickety and our mattress was uncomfortably firm. The bathroom seemed clean. Overall, this hotel was a big disappointment. I wish I had chosen one of the several other hotels nearby even if their prices might have been somewhat higher.
