Helpful Staff/ Nice Business Center/Clean Old Bldg

The building is obviously old but is kept clean. Hotel staff very accomodating and helpful. Disappointed that the indoor pool is only open during evening hours (4-10pm) during the week. Business center is nice- separate floor in enclosed area...Toilet in bathroom was very small and low to ground- not a problem for me, but probably not so good for a very large or old person. Breakfast is typical.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Univ or Maryland within easy walking distance. UM has free shuttle buses to the College Park Metro Stn. Doesn't need to be arranged in advance like the hotel courtesy shuttle, and operates extended hours.

A good start for discovery Washington DC

We had a good experience with this hotel: friendly staff, hard working cleaners, good connection to the metro station, computer available for general use and delicous breakfast.

eh

This hotel is very average. If you have a room in the main building, it surrounds the pool which can be very noisy at night. Luckily, we were in one of the wings. The restaurant that is attached was less than stellar. It would be ok if cost under $100 a night, but for $100 a night, it was just eh. The tv really didn't work well either. The bathroom was small but served its purpose. But, the staff was friendly. The breakfast was pretty good, nothing hot, but good enough. If they just spent a little more on the details, it would be ok. It is certainly good for families, kids would love the pool and games. We were there on business, not good place for that.

A good set for a horror film.

I often stay for a night while visiting my daughter at UMD. This was my first experience with Clarion Hotels and it was botched from the start. [...]. When I got there I asked again for a non-spoking room and was assured that they had found one for me but upon entering the room I found it smelled as if it had been bombed with some strong scent. Furthermore, the walls were paper thin and I heard the man next door sneeze and the children upstairs playing with the shower, pounding across the floor and talking through the night. There were holes in the sheets and the comforter was suspect. All in all, it was a little scary to stay there, especially at street level.

Good Value

I loved the pool because it was a great way to relax. At night it was noisy, I was having some trouble getting to sleep. The shuffleboard was a great pastime while waiting to go to Washington D.C. I also enjoyed the morning breakfast. It was a great start to my busy day. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for my friends and family.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Make sure that you bring change on your trip or get some. This is because for a lot of the parking in College Park and for some restaurants you need change for the meters.
