Big Mistake
We communicated via instant message with one of your reservationists. The agent was very helpful and courteous, however, we wish she had shared more with us about the location of this property. The property was located in a very bad section of town. The main entrance of the hotel is behind a building, more or less in an alley. The night manager was very friendly and helpful during the checkin process. The towels in the bathroom were so thin that we thought that they were handtowels. The toilet was unflushed and when we flushed, it overflowed. We killed two birds with one stone and went down to the front desk for better towels and a plunger. The room was acceptable and the linens were clean. I guess we got what we paid for. Should have known that $67.00 a night was a little suspicious

Good Stay
Friendly staff, clean room. Free breakfast not worth waking up for - maybe for organge juice and coffee. Conveniently located by highways and 20 min. from Baltimore inner harbor a plus. No problem with our stay at all, will recommend for someone looking for this quality of stay.

NEVER AGAIN!!!
THIS HOTEL WAS RIGHT BEHIND A LIQUOR STORE AND HAD A FEW DRUNKS HANGING OUT FRONT WHEN MY FAMILY ARRIVED. IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING MY FAMILY FROM THE CAR TO THE ROOM, I, UNFORTUNATELY DROPPED A BANK ENVELOPE THAT HAD MY TRAVEL/SPENDING MONEY IN IT(ABOUT $400.00)!!!! I ASKED A FEW PEOPLE WHO HAD ARRIVED AROUND THE TIME MY FAMILY ARRIVED AND, OF COURSE, NO ONE SAW ANYTHING!!! THE ROOM, ALTHOUGH A NON-SMOKING ROOM, WAS STUFFY AND THE VENTILATION DID NOT HELP MY TWO KIDS WHO HAD SEVERE ALLERGIES. THE PRICE WAS GOOD, BUT DID NOT REALLY FEEL SAFE! CHECKED OUT RIGHT AFTER BREAKFAST!

As expected
Overall the hotel room was as expected. It was pretty clean and the staff was friendly. The worst part of the stay was the room smell. A musty smell that was only made worst when the ac unit was turned on. That had its own smelly order. So we just kept the window open for fresh air.

Clean, but annoying front desk
Check out time was 11:00, the front desk called the room to tell us again. Then the clerk banged on the door to tell us check out was at 11:00, and if we were late in checking out--we would be charged additional money. In all my travels, I have never had this happen to me. Fortunately I checked out at 10:59. Finaly there was a seafood restaurant venting their kitchen odors into the parking lot--my car smelled like Maryland crabs.

Close to everything
The Super 8 Motel in Essex, Maryland was a great choice for it's location. I was able to get to all the places I wanted to go within 30 minutes or less. I was in town for a high school reunion, coming from Arizona. I hadn't been back to Baltimore since I moved in 1977, so I just picked the hotel by it's location, having remembered that Essex was close to my hometown of Dundalk. Dundalk does not have any motels. The airport and the Inner Harbor were less than 25 minutes away. It was a great location to stay. I only really used the motel for sleeping, as I was busy doing too many things (and still needed more time, which I didn't have). I do plan on returning to Baltimore in the near future and I will definitely book a room at this Super 8. The only thing I wish the motel had but didn't is a jacuzzi. After running all around Baltimore, it would have been nice to come back to the motel and sit in a jacuzzi to relax before bedtime, but other than that, the motel worked out great for me.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
There is a restaurant next door (The motel and restaurant share a parking lot!) that serves steamed crabs! And when you are in Baltimore, you must have steamed crabs. Blue crabs are the best crabs in the world!
