Sumptuous quarters in a spectacular, Beaux-Arts setting

Housed in the former headquarters of Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (constructed in 1906), the iconic Hotel Monaco Baltimore hotel immerses guests in the splendors of a bygone, Beaux-Arts era. Its sweeping, three-story lobby showcases original marble floors and Tiffany-stained windows, and eight-foot windows adorn each of the lavish guest rooms. The staff is as friendly as the hotel is magnificent -- no pretension here. Guests enjoy evening wine receptions in the grand living room lobby and thoughtful, if quirky, perks. Be sure to have a "companion goldfish" delivered to your room.

Highlights
  • Historic, Parker & Thomas-designed building with authentic Beaux-Arts detail
  • Prime location, three blocks from Inner Harbor waterfront and a half-mile from Camden Yards
  • Twelve-foot ceilings and eight-foot windows in every guest room
Location

The Hotel Monaco Baltimore hotel's location is as pleasant as it is convenient. With the Inner Harbor waterfront just three blocks away, many of downtown's greatest shops, restaurants and attractions are within walking distance.

Sumptuous fabrics and rich color schemes evoke early 20th-century opulence in every room. Guests are treated to coffee and tea in the grand living room lobby each morning, and complimentary wine receptions at day's end. A subtle but significant green ethic persists throughout the Hotel Monaco Baltimore hotel. Guests notice it in everything from the in-room recycling bins to the low-flow toilets and showers to the paperless checkout service. This hotel welcomes pets of all sizes. Stop by the designated pet concierge for tips on local dog-friendly parks, grooming services and more. Left Fido at home? Ask the staff to deliver a goldfish in a bowl, free of charge.

Historic gem

This hotel is a lovely conversion of the historic B&O railroad headquarters. The lobby is truly magnificent and unlike some other historic building conversions this one has comfortable rooms with all the modern conveniences and comfortable environment.

Wonderful stay!

Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful historic building. We had a fantastic time visiting Balimore for our short stay in September. This hotel is in a great location. Complimentary wine and appetizers for guests every evening. Would love to return again if we find ourselves in the Baltimore area.

Large rooms, great décor. Much more value than Hyatt or Hilton. No charge for internet. Good late night room service.

Never Again!

I travel often for business and pleasure. I arrived for a 2 night stay at Hotel Monaco and I've never had a worse hotel experience. Between being awoken by barking dogs and screaming children, there was a fire alarm that went off for 1.5 hours starting at 7am. There are just too many hotel options to choose from to pick this location. I'm done with Kimpton as a brand also. They are overpriced and underwhelming spaces.

More fun for the price

We were just stopping here overnight on a long drive, but the Kimpton Hotel made it feel like a second vacation. As soon as we arrived (at 1:30am, which the staff was just as cheerful and helpful as if it was 3pm), and saw the gorgeous historic marble staircase and the beautifully appointed room, I started googling Kimpton Hotels in other cities to plan future trips. I usually stay at the Hampton Inn when I just need a hotel for a night and want to know what to expect. This hotel was way more fun and more beautiful for basically the same price. My daughter said, "I want to live in this house!" Me too, baby, me too!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk straight across (east) on Baltimore street to a fantastic French bakery to pick up croissants and kouign amann for breakfast. Get a pound of cookies for later- definitely worth the price.

Monaco is an escape

I have stayed in this hotel and twice have had a fantastic experience. The rooms feel very special and luxurious for an affordable price. Also they were very accommodating to my large lab for no extra cost.

Once Again, Great Stay. Great Hotel and why i go back.

The staff and the hotel are (simply put) "exactly what you want"...they are friendly, helpful, the hotel is beautiful, rooms clean, beds comfy, and all the amenities you need. I've been back three times and each time its a wonderful experience. My only recommendation for the hotel is to make the internet experience easier. The service they use asks for everything about you before letting you sign on, or else you pay a fee. For such a nice hotel, charge a few bucks in the room rate so we can login and be done with it. Anyhow, I'm going back soon though, love the place!

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel is close to major entertainment districts so after a great meal you can walk to the hotel as long as you're in a group. Downtown Baltimore still has some shady sides to it so don't walk alone and not late at night.

Historical Upscale Property

Very nice accomodations. Afternoon wine service was good bonus, although quality of wines could have been better for a property of this level. Staff was great throughout. Walking distance to Inner Harbor and downtown attractions. Had a great stay.
