Contemporary quarters shake up downtown’s cookie-cutter scene
As a member of the Preferred Hotel Group's Sterling Hotels -- a collection of independent, free-spirited properties -- the 97-room Brookshire Suites hotel puts a premium on character. A contemporary aesthetic persists throughout (purple couches in the lobby, a moon-and-stars carpet in the Cloud Club) and guests enjoy access to special perks and services that many other 3-star hotels leave out: free breakfast (and yes, it's hot).Highlights:
- Prime Inner Harbor location, steps from restaurants and shops
- Complimentary breakfast
- High-speed Internet access
Location
The Brookshire Suites hotel sits smack in the middle of downtown's bustling Inner Harbor district. Guests can walk to shops, restaurants, and a number of attractions (the USS Constellation, for example, is just a few blocks away).
Rooms
Don't let the hotel name fool you. The Brookshire Suites offers standard rooms in addition to suite-style accommodations. The executive suites feature a spacious living-room parlor with a sofa, oversized desk, and city views, and a separate bedroom.
Features
Every morning, the hotel puts out a hearty -- and completely free -- breakfast spread in the top-floor Cloud Club, a common space open to all guests with floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping Inner Harbor views. There is no full-service restaurant at the Brookshire Suites hotel, but dozens of eateries lie within steps of the front door, including Harborplace's Phillips Seafood and Babalu at Power Plant Live.

Brookshire Suites
Hotel room was small, but clean. Lots of street noise all night even though I was up on the 8th floor. I was surprised at check-in to learn there was a mandatory $9.95 charge for all guests. It had something to do with phones, internet, etc, and applied whether you used those services or not. The Front Desk explained this charge was outlined in the [...] agreement, but I sure didn't remember seeing it. I parked across the street and found the $40 charge for parking 21 hours to be more than a bit extreme. Recommend valet parking at the hotel for $29 or at another garage not on E. Lombard St.

great location, fair service
*Wonderful location - within easy walking distance of Inner Harbor. *The staff tried to place us in a room with a double bed instead of the requested two double beds - took time to straighten that out. *Parking was an additional cost of $39.00 which was not expected. Once you parked the car, you couldn't access it again without paying again. *Staff operated on their time schedule, not mine. Waited approximately 25 minutes for my car to be brought to me when I checked out. They attended to other customers that arrived at the front desk after me. Is it because I am a woman and the other customers were men?

Great location
My 10 year old son and I spent a few days exploring Inner Harbor and had a wonderful time. The hotel was very close to major activities so traveling by car was unnecessary. The room was very warm with limited ability to control thermostat. A $10 "destination fee" per day was unexpected, and while the hotel included a weekday reception and breakfast, this fee should have been upfront. Parking was expensive. The staff service was inconsistent - some very good and helpful, others not so much.

We went to Baltimore for one night to see a concert in the city. This hotel is within easy walking distance of the Inner Harbor, shopping, and restaurants. It is clean, we noticed they are dog friendly.

Great location and a wonderful bed !!
We went to a concert, great location wherever you are going in the harbor area. I would stay here again, and will recommend this place to others. Nice rooms, we could even open the small windows for some fresh air. Nice friendly staff. ONLY ONE THING I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND ! WE HAD TO PAY $10.00 FEE FOR THE PHONE AND INTERNET, WHICH WE DIDN'T USE, TOLD EVERYONE HAS TO PAY THIS. $10 IS $10, WHICH WE COULD HAVE USED FOR GAS OR FOOD.

Great Location, Great Service and Value!
Great location in terms of walking to the inner harbor, the science museum, the aquarium, the water taxi, several malls and restaurants, etc. The only complaint I have was that we initially booked a king room, but were given a queen room (a VERY tiny one!) at check-in, saying that they were completely booked. Since we'd specifically PAID for a king room, my husband later complained about it. After a few choice words, the staff magically came up with a king room! (wonder how that happened if they were truly completely booked?). There was a little noise from the street construction or garbage trucks around 3-4 a.m., since we were on the 1st floor, but the king room we were given was MUCH larger. The breakfast buffet and happy hour are included, making the place a great value. They also have a nice workout room with new equipment. The staff were great, making this a wonderful experience, other than the check-in. We would definitely stay here again.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
We wanted to dine at a few of the local restaurants in the area that weren't chains. The front desk staff directed us toward a wonderful little Spanish tapas place in the Harbor Place Mall, called La Tasca, where we ate the first night, and another local Italian place about a block away called Vellegia's. They were both WONDERFUL. There was a wedding reception the evening we ate at Vellegia's, but despite this, we received wonderful service, amazing food, and were directed to the downstairs dining area which I thought had an even more cozy and intimate atmosphere than the upstairs dining area. These places are a MUST GO!!! By the way, don't eat at EDO, the sushi restaurant in Harbor Place. We ate there our second night and it was awful second-rate sushi! I couldn't even eat most of it, and it was pricey, too!

I'll be back!
I was in Baltimore for a convention. This hotel is only 3 blocks from the convention center and 1 block from the Inner Harbor. I parked my car and didn't need it or a taxi all weekend. There is a pub and several nice restaurants within easy walking distance. There's a SubWay (sandwich) shop right across the street and a CVS pharmacy 1 block away. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. All rooms are suites with plenty of room. It was clean, spacious, niceley furnished, conveniently located and CHEAPER than the other hotels nearby. AND, it features an open bar reception M-F evenings and FREE breakfast every morning, and I'm not talking donuts and coffee - They've got fresh fruit, yogurt, danish, bagels, cold cereals, oatmeal, waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, juices, coffee, tea, and hot cocoa! What a great deal. I'll be back!
