Contemporary quarters shake up downtown’s cookie-cutter scene
As a member of the Preferred Hotel Group's Sterling Hotels -- a collection of independent, free-spirited properties -- the 97-room Brookshire Suites hotel puts a premium on character. A contemporary aesthetic persists throughout (purple couches in the lobby, a moon-and-stars carpet in the Cloud Club) and guests enjoy access to special perks and services that many other 3-star hotels leave out: free breakfast (and yes, it's hot).
Highlights:
  • Prime Inner Harbor location, steps from restaurants and shops
  • Complimentary breakfast
  • High-speed Internet access
Location

The Brookshire Suites hotel sits smack in the middle of downtown's bustling Inner Harbor district. Guests can walk to shops, restaurants, and a number of attractions (the USS Constellation, for example, is just a few blocks away).

Rooms

Don't let the hotel name fool you. The Brookshire Suites offers standard rooms in addition to suite-style accommodations. The executive suites feature a spacious living-room parlor with a sofa, oversized desk, and city views, and a separate bedroom.

Features

Every morning, the hotel puts out a hearty -- and completely free -- breakfast spread in the top-floor Cloud Club, a common space open to all guests with floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping Inner Harbor views. There is no full-service restaurant at the Brookshire Suites hotel, but dozens of eateries lie within steps of the front door, including Harborplace's Phillips Seafood and Babalu at Power Plant Live.

Extremely Dissapointed

This was a triped booked by myself for a group of 6. This was the first time 5/6 the six guests were visiting the Inner Harbor area. I was embarrassed becuase when booking online the rooms requested were for 2 double beds. Upon arriving we were told by the hotel that when booking through a third party the rooms requested are never guaranteed. That was extremely dissapointing and 2 of the guests that had to sleep on the pull out couch have serious back problems. In addition to the rooms, both rooms were to have been non smoking. The first room reeked of smoke and upon checking into the room both windows were left open to air the room out. The guest in that room had asthma and had to use here inhailer the entire night. We were going to move her to the second room we booked but there was a disgusting smell of vomit which myself and girlfriend ended up staying in so our friends would not have to suffer from the odor. The hotel was booked and they were unable to switch us to any other rooms. It was an extremely dissapointing trip and this was my first experience of booking through a third party website. I also was charged two additional destinations fee's 9.95 each which I was not aware of the following morning upon check out.

Beautiful suites and excellent service

We were there looking for an apartment for my daughter that is moving there. We were busy all day and looked forward to coming back to our relaxing room. The beds were very comfortable. The bedroom and sitting room both had TV's. The wet bar was handy with its small frig. The staff was always smiling and willing to help you in any way possible. I plan to stay here when I come back to visit my daughter.

great location

When we arrived we were told there was a destination fee of 9.95 for wireless, breakfast, 2 waters a day, newspaper . All stuff that you would expect to get free any other place. I told them i didn't care for this extra package but they said "you do not have a choice". It was a good price until you add 9.95 a day extra.

It was good...but not great.

When I first arrived, I loved the look of the hotel. When I went to the check-in counter the lady who helped us was helpful. There were a few things right away that i was very dissapointed with. First there was no parking lot for the hotel, you had two options for parking---valet parking which was $30 or pay for a garage. I ended up parking in a garage because I don't trust other people with my car, which then costed me $45 to park for the night. That was $45 on top of already paying $200 for staying one night. I think that is ridiculous. Then we had to carry all of our stuff from the parking garage across the street, with out a lugage carrier because they told us we werent allowed to take it across the street. Again I feel like thats a tad bit ridiculous. The room was ok...I asked for non smoking and I could tell the room they put us in was most definatly a smoking room. I have horrible allergies with smoke and I was miserable the whole day after we left because of staying in a room all night that reeked of smoke. It was a big room, the bed was comfy. I wasnt completely impressed with this hotel. I would think that when you are paying a pretty penny for one night you would get a little bit better service. I probably wont be recommending this hotel to anyone.

Fun Times

We had an enjoyable stay. The first day they did seem understaffed. There was only one man running the front desk. He did a fine enough job. We were there while major street construction was happening and it was directly outside our suite. The free breakfast was amazing and drinks in the evening were perfect.

The Inner Harbor has everything you need. Food, (free) live entertainment, and the coolest aquarium. Several history and art museums are within walking distance as well.

Great Stay

All the hotel staff were very helpful and the service was great. The only downside was road construction out front that went late into the night. Of course there is nothing that the hotel could do about that. Also really great location relative to the Inner Harbor restaurants etc.

not honest about cost

Upon arrival, I was told that I HAD to buy a $9.99 per day package that included internet, telephone discounts and some coupons for stuff that I don't even remember. I said I didn't need any of that so I'd like to decline. They insisted that it was mandatory! After several exchanges, I became a bit upset (but not rude), and said that they should have been honest about their price up front before the reservation, not change the price after arrival! Only then did the desk person back down and offer to "remove the charges."
