nice location
The staff was very friendly and the whole hotel as a certain kind of flair. I did like although it was not the cleanest hotel. I loved the location and the surroundings. I would definitely go back there again.

unbeatable experience
This hotel is very closing to the famous inner harbor, and there is a church cross the street of it. Everything was fantastic, and the price per night is reasonable. I would highly recommend this hotel to you.

Decent hotel in a very nice area
The hotel was fine. I thought it a little overpriced, but I am a student on a budget. They charged at $15 early check in fee which I wasnt happy about. No elevator, so try not to get a room on the 5th floor. All accomodations were fine: beds, shower, towels, etc.

Donna's Coffee Shop is 2 blocks down Madison Ave. There's also a great soup-sub place (SubWorks) only a couple blocks away-- amazing staff and great food!

All the "charm" of a haunted house!
There is NOTHING "charming" about dirty, peeling wallpaper and dingy, dark paint. With some elbow grease this hotel could be acceptable, but the owners should put some effort into repairing crumbling moldings, repainting or at least cleaning the dirty fingerprints off the walls. Most of the furniture is old, cracked and faded and should get a good polishing, at the very least. It is charitable to call this monstrosity a hotel. It can better be described as a depressing, old home filled with furnishings and bedding that look like they came from a junkyard. Dusty, old fake flower arrangements that fill the rooms should be tossed, and I would rather see no curtains at all than these dark, threadbare 1950's era sheers. It is a sin to see a grand old building like this kept in such disrepair. While there are old fireplaces that could be restored with a little effort, there are other negative features such as peeling linoleum and yellowed drop down ceilings too. The heat is nearly non-existent. To get warm you must turn it up so high that when it kicks on, you can't hear the tv. To call a granola bar and some watered down coffee breakfast is deceiving. VERY disappointing to be located in this beautiful, historic district and see how this building is being cared for (not at all!)

My Stay
Not a good location. Parking not available. Noisy rooms did not sleep most of the night. Staff not considerate to my concerns. No elevator. Hurt hand bringing suitcase from second floor. Had recent carpel tunnel surgery. Overall will never return to this Hotel.

Out of the ordinary
Everyone gave this place bad reviews, but I thought this hotel was awesome! It was out of the ordinary, so what if they don't have an elevator, pool, gym, or a swipe card for your room. This place was authentic. There were old pictures everywhere, it was decorated from a past time. The rooms had fireplaces, comfy furniture, and a table with plate setting The only thing I had a problem with was the water took forever to get hot, but otherwise the place was awesome. Everyone else needs to get out of their bubble of expectations and experience authentic places and things.

authentic creepy victorian
initally, i was intrested in the "biltmore" because the website really talked it up. unfortunatly, the information about the hotel must have been posted decades ago, which is also when i am presuming that there last guest stayed, prior to us of course. the only positive thing i have to say about our room is that it was large. the bedroom itself was spacious, and there was a very large attached living room. however, the room was very dirty. i refused to use the blankets and pillows they provided. i did not take my shoes off for fear of contracting the plague. not to mention, you couldnt pay me a million dollars to step foot in the shower! i also found a rusty used razor in the medicine cabinet. all hygenine issues aside, i found the overall energy of the hotel very creepy. maybe it was the black and white portraits hung crooked on the walls, or the employees wearing pajamas, but i felt very uncomfortable the enitre time i was there. guess thats what $80 gets you in baltimore...i will DEFINITLY not be back!

IF ALL YOUR LOOKING FOR IS A BELOW AVG
THIS IS A OLD HOTEL NO ELEVATOR SMALL ROOMS WITH TERRIBLE DECOR,POOR MATTRESSES, A LONG WAIT FOR HOT WATER AND A CALL TO FRONT DESK. FRONT DESK STAFF WAS NICE AND HELPFUL. I STAYED IN THE ROOM MAYBE 8 HRS THE WHOLE TIME AND THAT INCLUDED 6HRS OF SLEEP .IT WAS A GOOD THING I HAD PLENTY OF COCKTAILS AND HAD WORKED ALL DAY SO THERFORE I COULD HAVE SLEPT ON ANYTHING AND DID. IT ISLOCATED DOWNTOWN BALTIMORE WHICH CAN VARY FROM BLOCK TO BLOCK BUT THIS WAS A DECENT BLOCK BUT CAUTION NEED TO TAKEN IT IS INNNER CITY ,PARKING IS NOT GOOD . I WOULD SAY THAT IF YOUR NOT WORRIED FOR THE SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME AND ALL YOU NEED IS A PLACE TO SHOWER,CHANGE CLOTHES ,NEED IT FAIRLY CHEAP AND SOME REST IT'S O.K.

Not really impressed
The staff was helpful, however, when using "Historic" in the explanation of your hotel, one would think that the upkeep is up to the historic label. This hotel was not. Just glad I did not bring my family with me to this hotel.

"shabby chic" doesn't say it!
Shabby Chic does not say it for this hotel; great location near Charles St & Mt Vernon Place but extremely worn around all the edges and not clean at all. Beautiful & graceful in its day, it is now too run down to really recommend it as even a decent place other than for its location around the corner from light rail station & Mt Vernon area.
