Quintessential Annapolis experience with a touch of Irish charm
Owned by a private, Dublin-based hotel group, the 120-room O'Callaghan Annapolis Hotel emanates a subtle Old World vibe. Staffers welcome guests with warm, Irish-style hospitality, and dark-wood European furnishings accent the cozy décor. Guests walk to Annapolis's signature attractions, but the hotel also runs a complimentary downtown shuttle. All rooms offer free high-speed Internet, and the on-site restaurant, John Barry, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner -- with Guinness on tap, of course.

Very nice and clean but overcharge for "valet"
I honestly don't have any complaints other than the fact that they charge 18 for "valet" parking, which should really be called "hey, can I move your car 12 feet over there parking" (because of how close --and empty--their lot was). I thought the food at the restaurant was great (go for the 5-7 happy hour) but the beer and drinks were overpriced, even during happy hour ($5 for a Yuengling isn't happy hour pricing). The room was great, however, and I would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyable Stay
I had a great experience during my stay at the O'Callaghan Annapolis Hotel. We checked in late on a Friday night and received a complimentary room upgrade which we really enjoyed and appreciated. The staff was friendly and accomodating. I would definitely go back to this hotel because of our experience and it's prime location in Annapolis.

Pleasant stay
The O'Callaghan hotel is located in the heart of Annapolis and easy to access from Rt. 50. This hotel has great appeal and charm. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. If I had to pick something negative, it would be the charge for parking. It cost $18 to have the car valet parked 35 yards from where I pulled up. I thought that was a bit much but all in all my stay was pleasant and I would recommend this hotel and stay again in the future.

Not good
On the evening of Feb 12 the hotel fire alarm sounded and we were required to evacuate to the street outside. The fire brigade arrived with all their bells and whistles. Guests stood outside; I in shorts, until the building was cleared for return; about 45 minutes. A fireman mentioned vaguely about the sprinkler system. Next morning in the restaurant I overheard some sort of inspector fella telling apparent woman manager that the system had not been powered down properly from before. Whatever that meant. I'm sure it's in firemen's report. In short the whole experience was quite negative and I request a refund for one night plus parking of $18. Thank you.

excellent stay
Stayed at this hotel over night this past Saturday. Had a great experience. Hotel staff was so nice. Room was very big and in a quiet part of the hotel. Only issue was the maids knocking on our door at eight thirty in the morning and the valet parking was expensive 18 dollars, but the excellent lady at the front desk offered us other parking options would totally stay here again. Not to mention the price of this hotel on the company website is forty dollars more!

A Friendly Feel
A nice hotel with a great location. O'Callaghan's has a friendly "feel" about the place. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and quiet, and the staff accommodating. This was our second stay. The public parking lot across the street is a good value - $10.00 a day. The room needs some updating: some furniture is battered, some of the linens were frayed, bathtub soap holder was missing. A flat screen TV would also be a nice touch. We were a bit disappointed that the hotel shuttle is no longer available.

O'Callaghan Jig
There was some misinformation initially given by the reservation staff to me which was devised to maximise their one time profit. When ever I spoke to any of the other staff, they were always changing the story and being evasive by passing the responsibily onto someone else who would not be available at that time. Their approach seems to be targeted to one time stayers who they do not think will be ever comming back. Perhaps because it is a tourist district. They also stuck me with forced valet charges of 18 dollars per day . They will get you in the door anyway that they can and charge like like a wounded bull, not really caring if you come back. I will never go back and stay at that hotel.

Too far from Harbor, Restaurant needs work
The hotel is too far from the Harbor area, USNA, etc. There was a curtain holder, but no curtain on the window (it was the 5th floor, but there still should have been a curtain). In the restaurant, I had to ask for water twice. I had to ask for butter (for potatoes. There was no bread). I had to ask for sauce for a seafood entree. My wife found an insect in her wine, a problem the waitress found funny. My wife left her jacket at the restaurant and it was gone when she went back to get it (I know you don't leave stuff anywhere, but it should have been turned in to the front desk).

Day Trip in MD
The hotel was in a very convenient location. It was quiet and clean and the staff was very helpful. They even had umbrellas for guests to borrow when it was pouring down raining. I had a very good experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Annapolis area. You can even request a late check-out for free; very helpful when you are coming back in after a late night.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
There is public parking across the street for the hotel. You pay $5 bucks for overnight/unlimited parking. Big savings compared to the $18 valet charge at the hotel. It is called the Knighton Garage. There is also a free trolley that will take you to the downtown so leave your car.
