Place to stay

Big, big room. They have a shuttle from the airport. Hotel is in the middle of nowhere….I picked it because we needed a place close to the airport for an overnight. Would not recommend for a tourist. They have an ice machine.

A Month in Winthrop

I just returned from a month in Winthrop, MA to collect information for a research project. I chose the Suburban Extended Stay Logan Airport because I had seen it once before and it seemed to fit the bill for a long stay. It couldn't have suited me better. My room was a suite, so it was like a small one-bedroom apartment with living room and pass-through kitchen. Other rooms I saw there were more like regular hotel rooms with a small linear kitchen as you entered, but I knew that for a long stay, I would need more space. I stocked up on food my first day there and visited a nearby dollar store to buy a few items not supplied by the hotel. I was able to eat about a third of my meals in my room, which saved a lot of money. Based on reviews stating that sound was an issue, I requested a top floor room. While I could occasionally hear voices from other rooms, the noise wasn't oppressive. Being on the top floor, there was no one walking in high heels above me. The thermostat and temperature control worked well, and the windows at that height (4 stories) provided a view over the rooftops. They charge for coffee for the in-room coffeemaker, so I simply went down to the sitting room near the lobby each morning and brought back a cup of the complimentary coffee they offer there. Full housekeeping was once a week, and they did a good job of it. There was also a second light housekeeping after about four days. A sign on the refrigerator said there was a charge for this, but the desk staff assured me that it was free. They also provided a complimentary change of towels if I needed some between cleanings. On-site parking was limited, but I managed to find a space in their lot most nights. When I couldn't, I was provided with a resident parking permit to use in any of the on-street spaces, which were plentiful while I was there. There are no laundry facilities in the hotel, but diagonally across the street there's a laundromat that appears to be open 24-hours. The laundromat was clean and quiet. I bought my own detergent at the dollar store to save a little money. The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport which operates limited hours, but I had rented a car and didn't need to use it. One deficiency I noticed was the lack of counter space in the bathroom for my toiletries. Since I was going to be there for a while, I bought a small stand at a chain store in the next town to hold all my stuff. Another thing lacking was a desk, which I needed to do my research. I could have used the counter in the pass-through kitchen as a makeshift desk, but the staff was able to find me a fold-up table, which provided a more comfortable arrangement. All-in-all, I was very satisfied with this place. It's not fancy, but it's clean and has all the basics. I found it very comfortable and convenient for an extended stay, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I intend to return whenever I'm in the area.

One night stay

I only stayed one night at Suburban Extended Stay. The staff was very pleasant, but I wish the shuttle to and from the airport was available past 10 since I had a late arrival.

Good Value and Convenient

We only had a short time at this hotel, but the staff made it very pleasant. The woman who checked us in was so helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again because it was so reasonable and convenient for the airport.

Vacation in the Boston area

The Hotel was clean. Few things they don't advertise, like they charge extra for clean towels. In one occasion we were notify 15 minutes before departure to the airport that the shuttle has only one seat left (we were two).

Thought it would be a good place to stay the night before my flight

I thought it would be a good place to stay the night before my flight. I was wrong. At check-in, I had a friend help me take up my bags to the room. The front desk lady quickly questioned me about the number of people staying in my room, since my friend had not been accounted for on the reservation. If you are thinking about booking this hotel for the shuttle, think twice. Shuttle service starts at 4am and runs only once an hour. There are 5 seats on the shuttle so only 4 passengers can go each hour. I tried to catch a ride at 5am but it was already full. They told me I had to go at 4am (which was really early) or 6am (which would be too late). I ended up renting a car to take myself to the airport (15 minutes drive). Next time I will rather pay the extra money to stay near the airport and not have to depend on the shuttle.

People in the front desk were very nice and helpful. They offer free shuttle and the drivers were also very nice. I took one from the airport to the hotel, and also from the hotel to the airport (at 5AM!).
