Wonderful and relaxing
We thoroughly enjoyed our midweek stay at the Sturbridge Publick House Lodge. Ate most meals at their restaurant and enjoyed the Bake Shoppe as well. Staff was courteous and efficient. Pool was relaxing. We will definitely return to this pictureseque setting in the near future.

Spur of the moment trip
The facilities were great and we enjoyed our trip. There was a fabulous restaurant on the premises where we had all our meals. There was a complimentary continental breakfast. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The pool was refreshing and they provided fresh towels on the pool deck. The lawn was well-manicured and the flowers were abundant.

We stayed in the motel unit of the Publick House. It was really nothing special but it was very close to Sturbridge Village which was the purpose of our trip. We might not have stayed at this historic and quite beautiful site if it were not for the excellent deal we received [...].

Nice Location...But !!!!!!!
We found the hotel to be old and outdated....Old can be ok, but the rooms showed wear & tear and felt unclean. There was mold in the bathrooms. I felt uncomfortable walking on the floors in bare feet. The mattress were old and uncomfortable. The breakfast consisted on coffee and some small pastries. I would not recommend this hotel unless you paid a 1 star price.

Expensive
Our first night we stayed in the lodge and saw a mouse in the bathroom of the room. Not impressed. Our second night we paid $160 to stay in the actual Inn and while the room was cute, it wasn't worth that much I didn't think. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everyone moving around outside your room. Everything in the Inn was expensive, food-wise. We were there for a wedding and found it crowded and annoyingly busy with people just visiting the restaurants. There were all kinds of parties going on so everywhere you walked you were surrounded by people, children, etc. Not very relaxing for $160. I found some of the staff to be very snotty as well. Our friends paid $115 for their night in the Inn and got a room that barely fit their DOUBLE bed. For that much money I would have expected atleast a queen size bed! My [...] hotel confirmation page said that check-out was at 12 but when I checked in the guy said it was 11 and we'd be charged to stay the extra hour.

A true visit to the past
If you're visiting Sturbridge, this is a way to extend the historic charm as if you were part of that time. Nice location to take a walk in as well. But make sure you are getting a room in the main house. They have a carriage house that's just a conventional motel. Still has a nice setting, but not any historic value.

Authentic historical location to go along with Sturbridge Village. The satisfaction items below have to be considered in that regard. This place is an antique. The staff was friendly and laid back.
