Welcome to the island of Nantucket and its tranquil harbours- endless stretches of beach- old manor houses- and beautiful gardens- just fifty kilometres off the coast of Massachusetts. The Wauwinet- a charming house covered in patinaed grey shingles- built in 1860 and with the distinction of being one of the first hotels on the island. The freshly picked bunches of flowers in your room are characteristic of the attentiveness of the staff. The programme is relaxation or water sports at the hotels two private beaches- massages inspired by local plants and contemplating the splendid sunsets over Nantucket bay. The hotel is closed from October 24 2010 and will reopen May 12 2011 and again on October 31 2011 and will reopen on May 10 2012

Serene location, intimate inn

We stayed at the Wauwinet for 2 nites in May '12. The inn had just opened for the season so there were not many people there or on Nantucket for that matter. That was perfect, as the inn's common areas -- library, restaurant, lawn -- were not crowded at all. The staff was very courteous and the concierge -- Jordana (sic) -- was very helpful. The complimentary continental breakfast is tasty, and we took advantage of the inn's bikes to ride into town. We'd def. return.

Try The Pearl for dinner -- we had a great (Asian fusion) meal there.

Romantic beyond words, and relaxing.

We picked the perfect place for our first trip to Nantucket. The sea and the sound both within a stones throw from our room was unique. The pounding surf and plovers on one side or the quiet water and ospreys on the other.

Awesome

The Wauwinet is a great place to stay! You have your choice of their private ocean beach or lounging on the lawn overlooking the bay. Getting into town was not an issue because they offer shuttle service every hour from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m or a "water taxi" twice a day. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruits, juice, coffee and pastries! The Wauwinet also provides bikes for their guests, which we took advantage of by biking to Sconset one afternoon. The staff was amazing...they were friendly, helpful, attentitive, and just plain top notch service all around. The Wauwinet was truly an escape and felt very much like a resort. The location was fabulous and amenities were endless. We would highly recommend staying at The Wauwinet.

Figawi Weekend in Nantucket

The service was fantastic and it started before we even arrived. When the ferry landed on the island we were not in the correct location for hotel shuttle service. I called the hotel to ask where we needed to be and the shuttle found us. The staff told us everything about the hotel during the check in process and addressed me formaly for the entire stay. The rooms were very quaint and we were presented with personalized stationary. We had inroom breakfast service both mornings and the presentation was next to none. A member of the staff even saw us outside of the hotel and called me out to ask me how my dinner (which was also not at the hotel) was the night before. Upon check out, we asked what we could do with our bags while we spent the remainder of the day with friends. The hotel staff held our bags all day (after we checked out) and brought them to us down town before we left the island.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Make sure you don't miss the shuttle service. The cab rides are very expensive.
