Econolodge - Lenox, MA

Good for one or two nights but no longer than that. Linens were clean but the comforters were a bit skeezy and could use replacement. The waffle machine was in effect for the continental breakfast which we enjoyed :)) The pool was a nasty green color but it wasnt' super hot outside so we didn't really care. a pretty good value but not the lap of luxury.

One of the worst hotels I've been at

I had the worst experience of all times at this hotel. We had reserved a non-smoking King with room for a pet and a crib request for the baby. They were super nice on the phone but it was just a pretend face they had on. As soon as we got there, they front-desk guy was told me only double-bed was available for people with pets (which wasn't mentioned earlier when I called). When I asked him to check the reservation, he said the [...] guy was lying about the reservation. He was rude and said he's cancel the reservation if "YOU DIDNT WANT IT". They charged $30 in stead of $15 that I was told on the phone. The hotel room had several exposed wiring in the plugs, dining room had exit sign broken, we had to BANG the hotel door shut 3-4 times to close it and it was still sway open sometimes. The list goes on but the worst thing is they were so rude that I didn't remind them that I needed a crib so we stayed up at night to see that baby didn't fall off the double bed. They said they would call [...] but never did. NEither [...] or Econo Lodge offered a partial or total refund for all of this. I paide $175/night for a $30/night place.

Going down...

We stayed here once before (2 years ago) and the place has definitely gone downhill in the interim. The room was clean and quiet - nothing special but as expected for the rate. Apparently during the off tourist season, the continental breakfast goes down to coffee, juice, bread and a toaster. It used to be much nicer - waffles, more hot offerings, etc. Wireless Internet didn't work in the room so I had to take my laptop to the lobby, where I had to put up with loud music from the bar/club area - where there were probably only 2 patrons. I won't be returning.

OK if you like exterior corridor hotels

The Econo Lodge Lenox is ideally situated for visitors to Tanglewood, Lenox village and many Berkshire attractions. The property has an attractive large secluded grassy court with swimming pool, playground, and lawn chairs for relaxing. There is a restaurant on site but we did not eat there or even see inside that area. The room used for the complimentary breakfast is large but lacks ambience. It features tables for eight so don't plan on a cozy breakfast for a small group. But it could be nice if you like to meet others. The breakfast offerings were typical of economy properties, nothing fancy, nothing homemade. For my taste, the major drawback was that the rooms are all exterior corridor which discourages keeping the curtains open for natural light. And the windows do not open so the air in the room was stale and the air conditioning did not work well. Overall it was satisfactory for the price but another time I would look for an interior corridor hotel with windows that open to let in fresh air.
